What an amazing experience today for all of our students!!

During our staff meeting this week, the staff were joined by Eden Arawa Stirling, a local Occupational Therapist. She gave us some very practical sessions on what the world is like for children with sensory processing disorder and strategies to help with regulation. We looked at the different sensory systems within the body and how they are the foundational building blocks for all other development.
For staff to continue growing in their professional knowledge and understanding is an important piece in providing quality education and care to the children in our centre.

We have been so blessed to have Krystine, Deb and Remi from Cornerstone Companions start their Canine Assisted Animal Therapy program today. We learnt about how to be Responsible Pet Owners to Remi and how to carefully pat her. Remi spent time with us outside and even helped some of us during rest time.
Looking forward to having Remi join us every Friday during the term.

NAIDOC WEEK 2024

The theme for NAIDOC Week this year was ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud!’ We decided to acknowledge this with our Prep class in a literal sense and have a campfire.

We sat in our yarning circle around the fire and read ‘Ceremony’ by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing. This was a beautiful story to introduce some Aboriginal language to the children.

We looked at a didgeridoo and rain stick and some Aboriginal symbols. Our experience was finished with some Aboriginal flag coloured face painting. We were also able to taste some Johnny cakes around the fire as well.

What a blessing to acknowledge and show respect to the Aboriginal people.

In honour of National Reconciliation Week, we enjoyed a Bush Tucker tasting experience. Mrs Gorman prepared lots of bush Tucker foods for us to learn about and taste. We learnt about making strawberry and lemon gum leaf tea, bunya nuts, using paperbark for damper and emu eggs. We got to taste some wattle seed damper, kangaroo sausages, cooked arrival greens and Lilly pillies.
Thankyou Mrs Gorman for helping us learn about the variety of native, Indigenous food available to us.

Our native Indigenous Bush Tucker garden has been planted. A big thank you to Bec from Deadly Ed who organised this amazing incursion and signs for all of our plants.
Now it is our turn to look after the plants and learn all about their traditional uses 🌱

STEPS Eyesight Preschooler Screening has occurred this week at the centre. This program offers a free screener before children start school.

What a beautiful day we had this morning, celebrating all of our grandparents and special people.

Thank you to those that could come and visit and those that were with us in spirit.

We are so pleased to let you know we raised $523 for the cake stall. Thank you to the amazing teachers that brought everything in for the stall and for your support.

As we celebrate NAIDOC week next week, we are grateful for the theme, ‘For our Elders,’ which fit so perfectly for today.

We pray you had a wonderful time and enjoyed your time with us in the ELC.

Fire Brigade Visit | We have spent this week learning all about how what to do if there is a fire. We know to call 000 and to get down low and go, go, go. Thankyou to Regentville Fire Station for coming out to help us learn all about fire safety.
