James Sheahan Catholic High Semper Paratus Welcome to our official page of James Sheahan Catholic High School. A hope filled place.

Located in Orange NSW our students experience a community that looks to the future with hope. Our time at James Sheahan gives us the skills and confidence to challenge ourselves and those around us to be the people that God dreams us to be. As John Baptist De La Salle, one of our patrons, said, 'Be assured that the more you devote yourself to prayer, the more you will also do well in your work.' James Sheahan Catholic High School is a learning community inspired by the traditions of our founders Catherine McAuley and John Baptist De La Salle. We provide opportunities for excellence, growth and success in a caring environment. Valuing compassion, courage, hope and belonging, our students will be prepared for a changing world. Our motto - Semper Paratus meaning 'always prepared' is symbolic of hope, the prophetic virtue. Page Guidelines

'The Happiest Man on Earth' - Eddie Jaku

Year 10 had the privilege yesterday of listening to the story of ‘The Happiest Man on Earth’ and Holocaust survivor, Eddie Jaku. The students first watched Eddie’s TED talk given at the age of 99. After this, Eddie’s son Andre and granddaughter, Carly, joined us via Zoom to go into greater detail about Eddie’s extraordinary story of survival and resilience. The greatest part was the sharing of his message of friendship and of avoiding hate.

Year 12 Graduation Mass

Year 12 students along with their parents, carers, families and staff gathered at St Mary's Catholic Church for a very special Graduation Mass. This liturgical celebration provided a wonderful opportunity for Year 12 to listen to the Word of God and receive the Eucharist together for the final time on their high school journey. Year 12 were presented with their gifts from the school which include a Bible and a Candle to guide them on their journey after school; we pray that they will continue to be the light of Christ and live out our school values in their life after school.

Our Parish Priest, Fr D**g, broke open the First Reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes highlighting that we should not dwell on things that are temporary or fleeting, but that the love of God is everlasting and doesn't judge. Fr D**g also recognised the importance of family on our journey, especially parents who see us through the challenges and failures, but also the successes and achievements - they know the hard work that has occurred to get to where we are today.

Faith, Focus, and Fine Art for Sheahan Day!

Our incredible Year 9 Visual Art students worked tirelessly to create something truly monumental for our Sheahan Day Liturgy!

Using a combination of bold acrylic painting and intricate fabric collage, the students collaborated to craft two massive 3.6m x 2.7m banners. Each banner captures a pivotal moment from the story of the Road to Emmaus - bringing texture, rich colour, and deep spiritual reflection into our liturgy space.

From cutting and layering textiles to fine-tuning sweeping painted details, this project has been a showcase of incredible teamwork, technical skill, and creative expression.

We congratulate our students on these breathtaking pieces!
