🧬 SCIENCE WEEK 🧪
This week our preschool friends have been focusing on some really cool and fun science experiments that they have been able to carry out.
Monday was paper planes, they sat down and used their fine motor and hand eye coordination to carefully fold their paper planes in a step by step process with Miss Paige. We then headed outside to see how far we could fly them. The preschool children lined up in a line and explored an introduction to aerodynamics and the lift and drag process. They practiced flying them a few times in the air before they were able to get the hang of it and watched as they glided and floated through the air. Our preschool children were able to explore stem concepts whilst enjoying this cools science experiment.
Tuesday rolled around super quick, and of course that meant another day for a fun, hands on science experience together. We stayed outside in the morning to enjoy a grouped activity of sink or float. Miss Paige had a small bucket of water and some objects where the children had to use their prediction skills on guessing if the object would sink or float. They were able to sort and group items into groups that sunk and ones that floated. The preschool children then were able to walk around and find objects in the environment to test their predictions to see if they would also sink or float. It was a great, hands on experience that the children enjoyed completing.
Today, we enjoyed exploring the walking rainbow. We sat down and spoke about the objects in front of us, and how we would make it work. The children identified the colours that we were going to be using, as well as were eager to see what colours they would turn into. Miss Paige guided the children on placing the colours into the cups and then folding the paper towel on top. We watched for the liquid to start rising up the paper towel and were excited to see some change happening. We learnt to be patient and to observe rather than it happening straight away, which was a new skill acquired from us. We then came back and could see that the liquids were forming into the cups that were empty. The children wanted to continue to watch the walking rainbow, so we kept it in vision for the children to see the colour change and magic of the walking rainbow.
We are excited for the next two days to continue of fun of science! 🧫
