We had a wonderful time celebrating International Read to Me Day with Jess Hislop, author and illustrator of the Mr Johnson's Farm series! πβ¨
Jess was incredibly generous in sharing her stories about life on the farm, captivating the children with tales about her dad, Mr Johnson, who was the inspiration of her books. Each of her books are catchy, engaging and informative in a beautiful child-friendly about the process of farming and how wheat & wool is grown and brought from the farm to our homes. To go with her books, Jess brought along some wool, wheat and a mini windmill engaging the children even more through the group time.
To find out more about Jessβs books, check out the Mr Johnson's Farm page. Weβve linked her website in the comments below too.
We thank Jess for joining us and allowing the children to meet a very talented local author & illustrator πΎππ

ππ Happy Birthday Kaitlyn π π
On Friday, we celebrated Kaitlyn, our wonderful admin who keeps everything running smoothly for both Family Day Care & Orange Occasional Child Care. Kaitlyn bends over backwards for all of the team and we are so grateful for her generosity, kindness, patience, and constant support, and of course her positive can-do attitude!
We are so grateful for everything you do, not just today, but every single day.
Wishing you a year filled with the same joy and care that you bring to our team πππ

Check out this wonderful threading & beading experience Donna, one of our Family Day Care educators, set up for her children. Using an array of pipe cleaners, straws and beads, the children used their creativity and fine-motor skills to make these marvellous creations π βοΈ

π There have been some fun Christmas set ups around our Educatorβs services in the lead up to Christmas π
π Only 5 days left til Christmas Day π

All the way back in July, our Family Day Care Educators and their children created letters & artworks to gift to another educator and their children for International Friendship Day.
As we come up to Christmas and the end of 2025, we shared this special project again to reconnect and celebrate our wonderful community ππ
π
The envelopes were filled with a variety of beautiful artworks, Christmas cards, fun activities, candy canes, bracelets, masks, and even a handmade recipe book! π¨π¬π
These projects created a lot of excitement amongst the children and meaningful connections, reminding us just how special our Family Day Care community truly is.
β¨ Thank you to all our educators and children for sharing creativity, friendship, and Christmas spirit β¨

From the 7th until the 13th of September, it is National Child Protection Week. This year, the theme is βEvery conversation matters: Shifting Conversation to Actionβ.
At Orange Family Day Care, we know that conversations are so important, but conversations alone are not enough. When we listen, reflect, and act, we create safer, stronger spaces for every child to grow, learn, and thrive.
We all have an important role to play in keeping children safe. Together, we can make sure that children feel heard, respected, and protected every day.
