One of the strengths of ODEEP is our multidisciplinary team.
Children and families may work with different professionals depending on their goals, needs and circumstances. This could include Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Early Childhood Intervention Specialists, Early Childhood Teachers, Counsellors and Allied Health Assistants.
By working together, our team can provide more coordinated, practical and family-centred support.
Because children don’t develop in separate boxes — communication, movement, confidence, independence and wellbeing are all connected.

What exactly is Early Childhood Intervention?
Many people hear the term Early Childhood Intervention but aren't quite sure what it means.
The simple answer? It's about helping children develop the skills they need for everyday life—and supporting families every step of the way.
Early Childhood Intervention isn't just about therapy sessions. It's about:
💜 Learning through play
💜 Building communication, social and everyday life skills
💜 Working alongside parents and caregivers
💜 Tailoring support to each child's unique strengths and goals
💜 Giving children the best start during the years when they learn the most
Every child develops at their own pace, and sometimes a little extra support can make a big difference.
If you have questions about your child's communication, learning or development, we're here to help. Contact ODEEP today to learn more.

During the holiday STEM group, the children explored a range of hands-on engineering and design challenges that encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. They created exciting chain reaction, designed water slides for figurines, experimenting with angles, speed, and structure to achieve the best results. The children also built marble mazes that required thoughtful planning and precision, while paper plane challenges helped them investigate flight, aerodynamics, and design improvements. Bridge-building activities encouraged students to think like engineers as they designed and tested strong structures. Throughout these activities, the children developed important STEM skills including critical thinking, collaboration, resilience, creativity, and the ability to test, evaluate, and improve their ideas. The group was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn through exploration, experimentation, and fun.

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of hosting three wonderful students on placement over the past six weeks here at ODEEP.
Krystal Ann (Occupational Therapy, Charles Darwin University) and Caroline & James (Speech Pathology, University of Canberra) have settled in beautifully and become part of our team from day one.
They’ve jumped right into session planning, therapy with families, and working alongside our therapists. Last week they even presented workshops at our monthly staff meeting—showing incredible confidence, professionalism, and passion for their fields. We were so proud watching them shine.
It’s been a joy having them with us, and we’re grateful for the energy and enthusiasm they’ve brought to ODEEP.

On Thursday, ODEEP’s MyTime facilitators, Leanne and Sharlene, joined MyTime facilitators from Playgroup NSW for a valuable training day focused on strengthening practice, connection and support for families.
Facilitators came together both online and in person for a day of learning, reflection and shared practice.
The morning workshop, led by MyTime Program Manager Jenny Boadle and Assistant Practice Design Specialist Anabel Mifsud, explored how facilitators can continue to support members to achieve MyTime’s outcomes. In the afternoon, the group took part in a practical discussion about bringing the MyTime Guiding Principles to life within group settings.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the broader MyTime facilitator community and continue building on the important work happening in MyTime groups.
A big thank you to Playgroup NSW for running the training day and for inviting Sharlene and Leanne to attend on behalf of ODEEP.
