We are so incredibly proud of the many students who submitted auditions for the PSO Performing Arts Project Poetry Recitation Enrichment Opportunity this year. It has been lovely to hear how many of our students took the opportunity to share their skills beyond our school.
Congratulations to eight OPS students who were named Top 10 Finalists, with Tilly L receiving a Highly Commended and Eleanor C being named Runner-Up.
As Runner-Up, Eleanor will now recite her poem as a featured performer in the Monday PSO Showcase — what a wonderful opportunity!
We wish Eleanor lots of luck as she continues rehearsing at school and at home over the next week in preparation for her performance. We know she will represent OPS beautifully.
Poetry Recitation additions to our programs for Showcases this year.
Congratulations Cameron and Eleanor!

🏉 Outstanding Recognition for Mr Bale.
Orange Public School is incredibly proud to congratulate Mr Drew Bale, who this week received a NSW PSSA Service Award for Rugby Union and was inducted onto the NSW PSSA Rugby Union Honour Roll.
This significant recognition acknowledges many years of commitment to representative school sport, particularly through his work with Western Region Rugby Union. Drew's contribution has been driven by a genuine love of the game, a determination to ensure Western NSW and its players are strongly represented, and a commitment to leaving the program stronger for those who follow.
Throughout his time in representative coaching, Drew has worked alongside dedicated coaches from across NSW and supported countless students and families as they embraced the opportunities that representative school sport provides. He particularly acknowledges fellow Western coaches Josh Bullock and John Carters, whose friendship, leadership and shared commitment to Rugby Union have been an important part of his journey.
As Drew hangs up his representative coaching boots — for a little while, at least — we are delighted to see his considerable contribution recognised at a state level.
Congratulations, Mr Bale, on this very well-deserved honour. OPS is incredibly proud to have you as part of our team! 🏉👏

🎨 Young Archies Finalists 🎨
A huge congratulations to our talented OPS Young Archies finalists, whose portraits were proudly hung as part of the Young Archies Interschool Competition, hosted by Anson Street School.
After being selected as winners of our school-based finals, it was wonderful to see our students pictured alongside their artworks at the official opening of the exhibition. What a special achievement to have their work displayed and celebrated alongside young artists from across our local schools! 🖼️👏
A big thank you also to our families who took time out to bring their young artists along to the exhibition opening and share in this special moment.
Congratulations to our finalists Scout WB Yr 6 and Zoe M Yr 2— we are very proud of your creativity, talent and achievement! 🎨✨

Last Thursday, nearly 150 Orange Public School students took to the stage at the Orange Dance Eisteddfod, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💃🕺✨
Our students performed with confidence, enthusiasm and huge smiles, loving every opportunity to dance alongside their friends.
🌟 Stage 1 kicked off the day with a confident and energetic performance, earning 1st Place. 🥇
🌟 Stage 2 wowed the audience with a strong, vibrant and energetic routine, also earning 1st Place. 🥇
🌟 Stage 3 Academy competed in an incredibly tough section of 13 entries and performed a beautiful lyrical piece, earning 2nd Place. 🥈
🌟 Our Stage 3 Dance Troupe delivered a fun, entertaining and high-energy routine, receiving Highly Commended.
We are so proud of every student for their dedication and commitment. Their willingness to rehearse during lunch breaks, support one another and give their best on stage is something to be celebrated.
A huge thank you to the Orange Eisteddfod Committee for running such friendly, welcoming and well-organised eisteddfods each year.
We are also incredibly grateful to:
🩵 Our office staff for organising notes, buses and costume orders.
🩵 Our wonderful parents and caregivers for sourcing costume requirements and cheering our students on.
🩵 Our teachers and support staff who helped students prepare at school, supervised throughout the day and ensured everything ran smoothly.
Dance is truly a team effort, and we are so thankful to everyone who played a part in making the day such a success.
Congratulations to all of our amazing dancers—we are so proud of you! 💙💛

🌟 Ever wondered what our Student Leaders get up to?
There’s plenty that happens above and beyond their Year 6 learning and extracurricular activities!
One of their many jobs is being the friendly face of OPS — meeting and greeting, helping visitors find their way and lending a hand at special school events.
During Education Week, Gretel rugged up and took her place at the front gate, welcoming families and pointing them in the direction of our open classrooms. 🥶👏
A little chilly? Definitely. A great opportunity to practise confidence, conversation and leadership with our school community? Absolutely!
Just one of the many ways our Student Leaders learn to lead by doing. 💙

🎶 Finishing Education Week on a high! 🎶
What a way to wrap up Education Week! Tonight, our wonderful OPS Choral Festival singers took to the stage at the Sydney Opera House for an absolutely amazing performance. We couldn’t be prouder of this talented group and the staff who supported them on this very special opportunity. 💙
And a special shout-out to our Principal, on Primary Principals Day, Mr Tom, who, after spending three-quarters of the day at school, somehow managed to find his way to Sydney to be there in the audience supporting our singers tonight!
A pretty great way to finish a week celebrating public education — with our students shining on one of Australia’s most iconic stages and their Principal there cheering them on. 👏🎶

🎭 Verse Speaking at the City of Orange Eisteddfod
Today, our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 5 Verse Speaking Choirs proudly represented Orange Public School in the Drama Section of the City of Orange Eisteddfod at the Orange Function Centre.
Verse Speaking is a wonderful inclusive opportunity that encourages every student to be involved, have a go and perform in front of a supportive local community audience. While stepping onto the stage can be outside some students' comfort zones, it is always inspiring to see the confidence, resilience and sense of achievement that grows through the experience.
Congratulations to all of our performers for embracing the challenge and representing Orange Public School with pride! 👏🧡
Photos to come.

Yesterday was a wonderful day at Orange Public School as we cheered on our talented spelling champions in the 2026 NSW Premier's Spelling Bee Regional Finals!
Teddy F from 3 Red and Anosha from 5 Purple competed live from school against finalists from 30 other schools across the state via Zoom. The competition was fierce, with words like “fortuitous,” “petroglyph,” and “propitious” keeping everyone on their toes.
Teddy reached Round 4 and Anosha made it to Round 6, showing impressive perseverance and skill. We are proud of both students for representing Orange Public School with pride and enthusiasm.
Congratulations, Teddy and Anosha!
