Instead of asking yourself âŚ
âHow can I keep my child busyâ.?
Try asking
đĄWhat can I prepare so my child can
engage independently .
It may mean setting up an inviting space with open ended materials,
(Silicon cups, stainless steel spoons, wooden rings, scarves) , involving children in everyday life activities such as gardening, simple food exploration or allowing them time to observe, wonder and follow their own interest.
Perhaps, allowing them time to sit in boredom, finding their own stimulation-is part of how children develop their ability to self -direct and focus, both of which are important life skills for children to develop.
Even infant Lucia here is engaging in close supervised uninterrupted play and exploration through discovering her body-how it moves, looks, feels in a safe and comfortable environment with not much at all.
Despite all the noise in the world, trying to sell us different ways to âentertainâ our children. The truth is children are not empty vessels, waiting to be filled up !
They are naturally curious, capable citizens who are driven to engage in their environment.

Emotional Coaching
A powerful Parenting Tool
Want to boost your childâs emotional intelligence ?
Instead of dismissing their feelings, acknowledge and guide your children through their emotions.
Try
đĄ When your child is upset, say â I see your
feeling angry, letâs talk about whatâs making
you feel this way.
đĄ Then offer solutions together
This helps children to process their
emotions constructively.
đĄOffering drawing to our citizens is a useful
tool for children to express their thoughts
and feelings.

This weekâŚ..
Donât tell your children to be careful
âBe Safeâ is a vague term.
we are all about specifics.
Was climbing up the slide backwards
safe ?
It sure was, until the child got hurt.
An accident might happen the first time or never, but young children donât understand how to analyse whether or not something is âsafeâ the way adults do when they give instructions.
Children respond to concrete instructions
Try âŚ
đ âLook, where your hands and feet are
goingâ. This encourages focus on
their actions and surroundings
đď¸ âIs that stable or secureâ?
A simple way to prompt them to
assess their environment.
đ â Take your Timeâ or go slow .
A gentle reminder to slow down and
approach things with care.
đď¸ âNotice where your stepping or
placing your handsâ. Helps children
Identify potential hazards and make
thoughtful choices
The goal is to offer children guidance that helps them to develop their own sense of awareness and decision making .
With these phrases youâre empowering your child to think critically, build independence and navigate challenges with confidence.
Remember,
Itâs during everyday life experiences that children learn and develop skills when given the time and opportunity.
Youâre not just protecting them in the moment .
-Your equipping them with habits that build their awareness that they will use their whole life.

Did You KnowâŚ. ?
you wonât hear us say âGood Jobâ when working alongside children.
Why ?
You ask,
âGood Jobâ is simply our judgment. I think what you did was good.
It doesnât tell the child much about what they actually did.
Instead, we can notice
âYou spent a lot of time on that painting, I see you used a lot of greenâ.
âYou put your shoes on all by yourselfâ
âI see that you hung your coat on a really tall hookâ
âThat looked hard, but you kept trying â
âYou mashed the whole bananaâ
âYou have really strong arms and legsâ
These words have meaning, they tell our children, I see you, I see your effort, I see what you did and I hear you.
âGood Jobâ is easy. Taking the time to be really present and responsive to childrenâs cues and noticing is much more meaningful and effective in regards to building early confidence and resilience.
What are some ways you give true feedback to your children ?
