AUTHOR TALK WITH COREY TUTT

Our Year 6 students had an inspiring afternoon with Corey Tutt!
They visited Glenroi Heights Public School for an engaging author talk with the DeadlyScience founder, who shared his passion for reptiles, science, and the power of Indigenous knowledge.

It was a fantastic experience that left our students buzzing with curiosity and excitement.

Many thanks to a group of Orange citizens and Collins Bookstore for sponsoring Corey’s visit and to Glenroi Heights PS for hosting the event.

VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC COMMEMORATION

On Saturday, Jaspar and Riley proudly represented Orange East Public School at the Victory in the Pacific Commemoration at the Orange Cenotaph.

It was a very special ceremony, with Jaspar reading Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels and Riley reading Kokoda. Both students spoke beautifully and also had the honour of laying a wreath.

It was particularly special to see CPL L Crossman and CUO T Collison, current members of the 252 Australian Army Cadet Unit and former Orange East Public School student leaders, taking part in the service as members of the Catafalque Party.

We are extremely proud of Jaspar and Riley for the respectful and confident way they represented our school, and it was wonderful to see past and present Orange East students contributing to such an important community commemoration.

🎉 Public Education Week – Who’s Who? 📚

To celebrate Public Education Week, we’re taking a trip down memory lane! 💙

Our staff have been digging through their photo albums to find a special snapshot from their own early years in public education… and now it’s your turn to see if you can recognise them! 👀

📸 Can you guess who’s who?

Take a look at each photo and see if you can match it to one of our current staff members. Make a comment on any photos you can guess, to tell us who you think it is. Show your children the photos and see if they can recognise staff members through these young faces. Look closely and you’ll see that some of them are even wearing Orange East uniforms!

We’ll reveal the answers in a few days, so keep an eye on our page to see how many you got right! 🤩

Happy Public Education Week to all our students, families, staff and the many generations of public school students who make our schools such special places. 💙

🎉💯 100 Days Brighter! 💯🎉

Today our Kindergarten students celebrated a very special milestone – 100 days of learning, growing and making memories at school!

The day was filled with fun from start to finish. Many students arrived dressed as 100-year-olds, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter to the playground. They enjoyed a delicious fairy bread treat with hundreds and thousands, created fantastic self-portraits imagining what they might look like at 100 years old, and stepped through our Magic Door as part of the celebrations.

A special highlight of the day was having Mr Bourke visit to read Imagine by Alison Lester, inspiring our young learners with one of Australia’s most loved picture books.

We are very grateful to our wonderful OEPS P&C, who generously gifted every Kindergarten student their own Alison Lester book to take home and add to their growing home library. What a thoughtful way to encourage a lifelong love of reading.

Congratulations to all of our Kindergarten students on reaching your first 100 days of school. We are so proud of how much you’ve learnt, how much you’ve grown, and the confidence you’ve built. We can’t wait to see what the next 100 days will bring! 💙💛

Gross Motor Fun in Kinder Turtles!

Our Kinder Turtles have been having a wonderful time participating in fun and engaging sport activities! They practised following directional arrows by jumping in different directions, worked on their aiming and throwing skills by tossing ping pong balls into tubs, and matched colours by throwing bean bags onto the corresponding coloured spots.

These exciting activities not only brought lots of smiles and laughter but also helped our students develop and strengthen their gross motor skills, coordination, balance and listening skills. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and willingness to give everything a go!
