CIS Primary Boy Football

In Week 10, three of our talented footballers; Beau P, Gilbert C, and George A travelled to Lake Macquarie to compete in the CIS Primary Boys Football Championship. The boys earned their selection into the HICES team all the way back in Term 1.

It was a fantastic day of high level competition, giving Beau, Gilbert, and George the opportunity to test their skills against the top players of primary school football talent in the state.

Seeing the depth of talent in their age group has fuelled their ambition to keep working hard on their skills, with all three aiming to trial again next year and push themselves even further in the tournament.

Congratulations to Beau, Gilbert, and George on representing HICES and OAGS with such great sportsmanship and pride. We look forward to watching you continue to grow.

Sports Assembly

We recently held Sports Assemblies to acknowledge the effort and achievements of our students across the Athletics and Cross Country seasons. It was a great opportunity to get the school together and present awards to those who performed well and showed great house spirit.

A major highlight of the assembly was the presentation of the Champion and Reserve Champion pennants for both Athletics and Cross Country. These awards recognise the top performing students in each age group who showed impressive consistency throughout their events. We also celebrated our Athletics record breakers, with certificates handed out to the seven students who set new school benchmarks this year. A special mention goes to Milla J, who had an outstanding carnival and came incredibly close to breaking the record in nearly every event she entered.

The House competition was closely contested this year, with different houses taking the honors across the various carnivals. Bandhaa took out the Senior Athletics title, while Dinawan showed their strength in distance and track by winning both the Senior Cross Country and Junior Athletics trophies. The Junior Cross Country winning house was Bandhaa.

Congratulations to all our individual award winners and to every student who participated to earn points for their house.

AICES Cup - Netball

Last week our U15s netball team travelled to Sydney to compete in the AICES Netball Cup. After a late injury left the squad with exactly eight players, the girls showed incredible grit and determination against some very tough competition from across the state.

The tournament began on a high note with a strong win against Arden Anglican School, followed by a narrow, hard-fought loss to Emanuel School. After resetting and clearing their heads, the team bounced back with a confident victory over Hunter Valley Grammar. While fatigue began to set in during the afternoon, resulting in two tough losses to William Clarke College and Illawarra Grammar, the girls' overall performance secured them a place in the finals.

OAGS faced Moriah College in the Division 4 Grand Final. Digging deep despite the exhaustion of a long day, the team put in an amazing effort to come away with a convincing 15-6 victory.

Congratulations to Heidi B, Audrey B, Stacey C, Lotte C, Annabelle D, Coco P, Belle W, and Lucinda W. You played at an exceptional standard and represented the school with immense pride. We look forward to watching you all continue your sporting journeys.

HICES Cross Country

In Week 6, 33 of our Junior School athletes headed to Kinross Wolaroi School to compete in the HICES Cross Country. While the rain luckily held off, a heavily muddy track tested everyone's stamina and balance, but our runners handled the challenge beautifully.

A few special highlights from the day:
Genevieve W took out a brilliant 1st place finish.
Arjun M and Olivia B both secured fantastic 3rd place finishes in their respective age groups.
Lucy J stepped up as a wonderful team ambassador, leading warm-up sessions and mentoring younger runners to help calm their pre-race nerves.

11 of our students successfully qualified to progress to the CIS Cross Country in June. Well done Isla P, Blair O, Tim P, Arlo B, Mackenzie H, Harvey B, Evelyn A and Sophie M.

We are incredibly proud of all 33 of our representatives for their effort and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our qualifiers, and we look forward to cheering you on at CIS level next week.

AICES Cross Country

In Week 7, our long distance runners travelled to Horsley Park to compete in the AICES Cross Country Championship. The hilly course provided a challenging physical test for all participants, and our team competed with great determination.

Congratulations to the four athletes who finished in the top ten, earning themselves a spot at the upcoming CIS Carnival in Week 10:

Isobel C (4th place)

Milla J (6th place)

We also saw excellent depth across the rest of our squad, with several runners finishing just outside the qualification zone in 11th, 12th, and 16th place. Every student who took on the course should be proud of their effort.

Trinity Shield

Here at the OAGS Sports Academy, we’ve been busy doing what we do best: helping our athletes get out on the field and play the sports they love. While the daily schedule has kept us on our toes, we’ve also been quietly working on something massive behind the scenes. We are incredibly excited to finally lock in a fantastic new experience heading the way of our Senior students...

On Monday, 31st August, our Senior students (Years 11 & 12) are heading to Dubbo for the inaugural Trinity Shield!

We are launching a brand new sporting tradition against Dubbo Christian School and Macquarie Anglican Grammar School. Our male and female squads will be going head to head across four sports: Soccer, Netball, Basketball, and Rugby 10s.

Weekly training is already well underway, and a massive thank you goes to our coaches—Mr van der Merwe, Jeremy Wallace, Mr Miller, Mr Brown, Mrs Purvis, and Mrs Hutchinson—as well as our Year 10 students who are stepping in to fill some spaces.
