This is an amazing opportunity and interested students are encouraged to apply, reminder that this is an extra curricular activity that requires parent support to attend the audition and if successful the rehearsals and possibly the performance/s

Wagana’s will be working with the Western NSW Secondary Aboriginal Dance Ensemble next year!

This program provides an opportunity for talented Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander dance students from across Western NSW, on Wiradjuri Country, to extend their skills and deepen their cultural connection under the mentorship of Jo.

The ensemble nurtures a love of dance through workshop-based rehearsals and performance experiences, developing students’ technique and performance quality across both traditional and contemporary styles. Participants have the opportunity to perform at the Western NSW Dance Festivals (Bathurst and Dubbo)

Complete the application form by Friday 13 February 2026 (Term 1 Week 3).

Students will self register by completing the online registration form and will then attend the audition workshop.

It’s finally show day!!
Huge shout out and congratulations to Jazzy, Eloise, Amarii, Sophie, Shaq and Ella who have worked so hard for this moment.

Make the most of it, girls. Dance with pride, stand strong in your identity, and let your ancestors guide every step. Today you’re not just performing, you’re carrying culture, story, and Country onto that stage.

❗️Attention families ❗️

Year 7 camp is back safely.

The whole school is having an assembly in the Gym.

Unfortunately due to the wide spread power outage the school is non operational. Our phones are also currently out.

If families can collect students we kindly ask if you can collect them from the Bus Bay. Teachers will meet you there and we will sign out your student.

Any families who cannot collect students will be supervised here at school for the remainder of the day. This information has been emailed out.

Huge shout out to Jazzy, Eloise, Ella, Amarii, Shaq & Sophie who are on their way to Sydney for their final rehearsals and performances at this year’s School Spectacular with the Aboriginal Dance Company and the Aboriginal Dance Ensemble.

So proud of each of you for carrying our stories, strength and culture onto one of the biggest stages in NSW. Through dance, you’re keeping culture alive, honouring our ancestors, celebrating our identity, and showing the next generation what it means to stand proud in who you are. Your footsteps on that stage will echo far beyond the performance.

For our mob, being able to stand on that stage and share culture through dance is more than a performance, it’s a continuation of story, identity, and pride. Our students carry their Ancestors with them in every step, and your support helps ensure that these stories are seen, heard, and celebrated on one of the biggest stages in the country.

📣 Important Update

Despite my best efforts to advocate for the continuation of this page, it will be deactivated at the end of term. This decision comes in response to the updated DOE Social Media Policy, which states that each school is permitted only one official social media platform.
While this is disappointing, I remain committed to ensuring that our stories, successes, achievements, and opportunities continue to be shared and celebrated. Moving forward, I will work closely with our school leadership to ensure that all updates will be posted through the Orange High School page.
For our Aboriginal students, families, and wider community, storytelling is more than sharing news, it is a cultural practice, a way of honouring our young people, strengthening identity, and keeping our connections to community strong. I will continue to work hard to ensure that our voices, our culture, and our stories remain visible and valued through the shared platform.
Thank you for your ongoing support, trust, and engagement. Our journey continues, just in a new space.
