🏃‍♀️💪 Recovery in Action! 💪🏃‍♂️

Our Year 12 Health and Movement Science students have been learning about the importance of recovery strategies in supporting performance and reducing the risk of injury. 🧠❤️‍🩹

Recently, students put their learning into practice by participating in a range of recovery strategies, including 💧 hydrotherapy, 🧘‍♀️ cool-down stretching, 🌀 foam rolling, 😌 relaxation techniques and compression boots.

The Wellbeing Hub has been busy over the past week!
We welcomed TRAXSIDE Youth Service, a local youth service, to run a Garden Club session focusing on healthy relationships and positive connections.
Our Wellbeing Ambassadors have also been busy putting together another lot of hampers for Barnardos Wollongong to support women and children in need.
Then came the big challenge… 300 cheese toasties in just 35 minutes for the Julia Reserve Community Centre afternoon drop-in! 🥪 They absolutely smashed it!
Chill Out Tuesdays has also continued to grow, with new faces joining us each week. It’s been great to see more students coming along, hanging out, having a chat and making use of the Wellbeing Hub.

Last term, the Jacaranda class focused on Literacy Development as part of their English program. Students developed their letter-writing skills by composing and posting letters to people of interest. Dr Mike Freelander kindly responded by visiting the school and participating in a question-and-answer session with the Jacaranda class. Other classes within the Disability Support Unit were also invited to attend. The session was highly informative, providing students with opportunities to ask thoughtful questions about politics, leadership, improvements within the local area and broader community, as well as Dr Freelander’s medical experience.
