๐Ÿ’œ Wear It Purple Day at Officer Secondary College ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, our College came together to recognise Wear It Purple Day, a day dedicated to supporting and celebrating LGBTQIA+ young people and promoting a school community where everyone feels safe, accepted, respected and able to be themselves.

Wear It Purple Day is an opportunity to stand against discrimination, challenge prejudice and show LGBTQIA+ students that they belong and are valued members of our community.

Our College Captains, Eden and Lucas, spoke with members of the Officer community and asked them: โ€œWhat does inclusivity mean to you?โ€

Their conversations highlighted the many ways we can create a more inclusive environment, from accepting people for who they are, to making sure everyone feels welcome, heard and supported.

Thank you to everyone who helped us recognise the importance of inclusion, acceptance and belonging today. ๐Ÿ’œ

Compass Feedback Survey!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent Student Teacher Conferences over the past two days. It was wonderful to hear so many positive conversations and see our families and students actively engaged in discussing learning and progress.

Throughout the conferences, teachers shared assessment results, attendance information and other learning data available through Compass. We also heard a number of questions from families about how to find and use this information.

We would like to support families to feel more confident using Compass and make the most of it as a communication tool between school and home. To help us understand which areas would be most useful to provide further guidance on, we have put together a short survey that you can access here, via the link or QR code. https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/8KcpWwkpwK

Your feedback will help us identify where additional information or support may be helpful, so families can more easily access timely updates about their childโ€™s learning, attendance and progress.

If you could take a few minutes to complete the survey, we would really appreciate it.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

๐Ÿ“ข2026 Parent & Carer Opinion Survey ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Strong schools are built on strong partnerships, and the voices of our parents and carers are an important part of that partnership.

The 2026 Parent & Carer Opinion Survey is now open, and we encourage all families to take the time to share their experiences, perspectives and feedback with us.

Your feedback helps us to:

understand what we are doing well
identify areas where we can improve
strengthen communication and engagement with our community
ensure our priorities reflect the needs of our students and families.

We genuinely value your feedback. Whether your experience has been positive, or you believe there are areas where we can do better, your voice matters and helps us continue to improve as a school.

We encourage all parents and carers to complete the survey and contribute to shaping the future of our school.

Thank you for partnering with us and for helping make our school the best it can be for every student. ๐Ÿ’™

Day 1 of National Science Week was off to a great start! Investigating the following themes:

Option 1 - Seed Survival Challenge. Investigate which environmental conditions help seeds germinate best (light, temperature, water, soil type). You can use/or create mini greenhouses for the test.

Option 2 - Future-Proof Seeds. Design or research seeds that could survive future climate conditions such as drought, flooding, or heatwaves. Investigate how you could grow plants in space for humans to survive. https://www.nasa.gov/exploration-research-and-technology/growing-plants-in-space/

All students are welcome to sign up as we celebrate National Science Week !
