🐛 Learning about contractions!
Our year 2 students have been exploring contractions as part of their spelling activities. They learned that contractions are shortened words made by combining two words, and brainstormed lots of examples together.

To put their learning into practice, they created their very own contraction caterpillars! 🐛📚

A fun, creative and engaging way to build their understanding of contractions while developing their spelling skills. ✏️✨

Our talented SSP Band took to the stage at Newman College as part of the Catholic Arts event.
The students gave a fantastic performance and were thrilled to receive positive feedback from the adjudicator. We are so proud of the dedication, teamwork and confidence they demonstrated on the night!

🌿 Year 2 Celebrates NAIDOC Week 🌿
As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, our Year 2 students explored the importance and cultural significance of the boab tree. 🌳
Boab trees are an iconic part of the Australian landscape and hold deep cultural significance for many Aboriginal communities, particularly in the Kimberley region. They have a strong connection to Country and have been valued for generations for their many uses.
Our students carefully observed the colours, lines, shapes and form of the boab tree before using their learning and creativity to create their own beautiful artworks. 🎨
It was wonderful to see the students developing their understanding of Aboriginal connections to Country while expressing their ideas through art.

🌐 Surf Online Safe Parent Session with Paul Litherland - Wednesday 29th July 630pm
St Simon Peter is hosting an excellent parent session with Paul Litherland, founder of Surf Online Safe and a leading voice in online safety education for young people and families. Paul is a former WA Police officer 👮‍♂️ who now works with schools and communities across Australia helping parents understand the digital world their children are growing up in and how to keep them safe online.
Paul will also be completing a workshop with our Year 4 Year 5 and 6 students 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫, so this is a great opportunity for parents to hear directly from him.
Supporting our kids to navigate the online world safely 📱💻 is one of the biggest challenges we face as parents, so this is a session not to be missed.
