| 🗣️💬 Languages Week 🌍❤️ |

This week at the College, we celebrated Languages Week with plenty of culture and flavour.

In the classroom, our students created Italian inspired art pieces and prepared Italian cuisine. The celebrations continued around campus, with Carmine Napoli Music performing in Italian in Manjaree Place and That Little Gelato Cart making its way to Prendivillage. The Reef Café also served a dish from a different country each day throughout the week.

The week ended with a messy Spaghetti Eating Competition, with our Year 12 students taking on our staff. The rules were simple: finish the bowl of spaghetti without using your hands.

Grazie to our Italian Department for bringing the College together to celebrate our diverse backgrounds as one. And thank you to the team at the Reef Break Café for joining in the celebrations with delicious daily specials on the chalkboards and festive decorations.

Dear Prendiville Alumni,

We’re just one week away from welcoming you back to Prendiville for our 40th Anniversary Alumni Reunion Walk!

📆 Friday 11 September | 5:00pm–7:00pm

The walk features 14 Stations around the Campus, beginning in the Prendiville Gallery and taking you through familiar College spaces, with open classrooms and directions marked on the map. Stations 1 and 4 will have coffee prepared by our Year 11 Hospitality Barista students, along with water and soft drinks.

Be sure to look out for QR codes along the way, featuring snapshots from each of our 40 years. 📱

We can’t wait to see all our Alumni back at the College next week for what promises to be a memorable walk down memory lane!

| ⏪ 40 Years Archive Snapshot: 2003 🎽 |

Following suggestions from our previous Archive Snapshot, today we’re taking a look at 2003. It was a significant year for our College, with Principal Mr Rob Daniels announcing that he would be leaving at the end of the year after 12 years of service as Principal.

In a message to the Class of 2003, Head Girl Natasja Pollemans wrote:
“...just like in each year at Prendiville, we had different goals to achieve, different challenges to face, and different academic potentials to reach.”

| 🏗 Year 9 Try-A-Trade 🔨 |

Last week, a select group of our Year 9 students participated in the Try-A-Trade program, facilitated by Skill Hire. The programme is designed to give students a taste of their chosen trade and an insight into the construction industry.

Students gained hands-on experience in bricklaying and expanded their carpentry skills. The team at Skill Hire commended our students for their excellent behaviour and strong work ethic throughout the three-day program. Well done, Year 9s!

| 👋 Class of 2026 – Salvado: A message from Mrs Gillan 🟪 |

"12 Salvado, it has been a privilege to be your homeroom teacher, and, at times, your ‘school mum’ over the past five years. Watching you grow from Year 8 students into the remarkable young adults you are today has been an absolute joy.

I will miss your smiling faces each morning, the laughter that filled our classroom, the endless jokes, and the countless moments we have shared along the way. Each of you has left a unique mark on my heart, and I am so incredibly proud of the kind, capable, resilient, and caring people you have become."

| 🎵 Book Week 2026: Symphony of Stories 📖 |

Today, we hosted our annual Book Week Dress-Up, with staff and students bringing their favourite book characters to life.

This week for Book Week, our College celebrated the 2026 theme, Symphony of Stories, with activities including Scratch Bookmark Making, Book Album Covers, the Guess the Teacher quiz, voting in the Symphony of Stories Art Competition and even a lunchtime concert.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it a note-worthy celebration of reading, and a special thank you to our MacKillop Library team for conducting a fantastic week of activities!

"Over the past six years, I've celebrated your successes, watched you overcome challenges, and admired the kindness, resilience, and humour you've brought to our College Community. As you begin the next chapter, be curious, be courageous, and never underestimate the difference you can make. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the journey we've shared. | 🗣️ One Moment: I Live My Life Without a Knife 🛡️ |

Today, our Year 10 and 11 students attended the ‘One Moment' Jack Beasley Foundation presentation in the College Gymnasium, delivered by two officers from the Joondalup District - WA Police Force.

Students learned about Jack’s Law, which provides WA Police with the authority to conduct edged weapon scans to detect those carrying knives in public. Officers also shared how quickly situations can escalate and how a decision to carry a knife can have lasting consequences.

The officers also shared important advice about staying safe on social media and Snapchat, as well as the dangers of irresponsible e-scooter use.

A big thank you to the officers for taking the time to share this important message with our students.

| ⏪ 40 Years Archive Snapshot: 2007 🪩 |

The year was 2007, and our College entered the Rock Eisteddfod for the first time in 10 years, winning Awards of Excellence for Drug Awareness, Student Achievement and Lighting Design. It was also the final year our Drama students have to use the College Gymnasium's stage, with our Performing Arts Centre scheduled to open early the following year.

Where should we head next: the ’90s, ’00s or ’10s? 🕑

| 🎼 Concerts at One 🎻 |

Last Wednesday, our talented Music students performed at St George's Cathedral as part of its Concerts at One series. For the first time in the series, our Prendiville College Choir began their performance by forming a large circle around the audience, creating an immersive opening to their first two pieces.

Our students performed across a range of ensembles, including the Prendiville College Choir, Clarinet Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Redmond Chorus, Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Prendiville SSA Choir and Senior String Quartet. The Cathedral’s incredible acoustics and colourful light from the stained-glass windows made the concert one to remember.

Congratulations to all our talented musicians for not only their outstanding performances, but also the mature manner in which they represented the College. A special thank you to our dedicated Music staff, particularly our ensemble directors Ms Ashleigh Slater, Mr Sam Hartley, Mr Beren Scott, Mr Brendan Arbuckle, Ms Rachael Perry, Mr Dave Deacon, and Ms Saskia Rickman for supporting and preparing our students for this unforgettable performance.
