🎉 Parent & Friend Group – Let’s Kick Off 2026!

Hi lovely Parent & Friend Group,

It’s time to kick off planning for our 2026 events now that the apple fair fatigue is subsiding ☕✨

We’d love you to join us for our Parent & Friend Group kick‑off meeting:

📍 Where: Red Park
🕤 When: Friday at 9:30am
☕ What: Coffee, chats, ideas and a bit of fun while we get excited about the upcoming events.

No pressure, no prep – just come along if you can and help shape some great events for 2026

Hope to see lots of friendly faces there, don't be nervous just pop along for a chat and to share any ideas you might have!

It’s crunch time! THREE SLEEPs TO GO! 🍏 🍎 Reminders coming every day this week, so take note!

🍎 WRISTBANDS - pre-sales close midnight Wednesday. Wristbands will be delivered to classrooms on Thurs/Fri. Sales via Flexischools. Check the Apple Fair website for list of rides. Wristbands and tickets also available on the day at ticket booths.

🍏 URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS! We still have gaps on some activities. Thank you to those already signed up - some even doing multiple shifts! If you haven’t yet popped your name down please jump into the roster via the Apple Fair website.

📣 Apple Fair Volunteers Needed – We’re Nearly There!

The Apple Fair is fast approaching (only 11 sleeps!), and we’re so grateful for the amazing support from our community so far!

✅ 10 rosters are almost complete – thank you to everyone who has already signed up!

🟡 15 rosters are halfway filled – we’re getting there, but we still need a few more helpers to lock these in.

🚨 6 rosters are urgently in need of volunteers – these areas are at risk of being understaffed, and we can’t run them without your help.

🍎 Apple Fair Silent Auction – Community Call Out! 🍎

Ocean Grove Primary School is gearing up for our 2026 Apple Fair, and we’re currently collecting donations for our much-loved Silent Auction.

Last year alone, the Silent Auction raised an incredible $17,000 for our school — funding real improvements for our students, including playground upgrades, landscaping to the oval, and new classroom furniture.

We’re calling on our amazing local community and businesses to help us do it again!

We’re seeking:
✨ Vouchers (dining, retail, services)
✨ Experiences (wine tours, activities, classes)
✨ Products or gift hampers
✨ Services or unique offerings

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference — and it’s a wonderful way to showcase your business while supporting local kids.

Reminder

🚨PARENTS + FRIENDS ANNUAL MEETING 🚨

📍 Thursday 19th Feb 9:15am - staffroom

Hi everyone

We’re holding our first Parents & Friends meeting for the year and we’d love to see some new faces.

At this meeting we’ll be voting in this year’s President, Vice President, Treasurer and other roles.

We’re also introducing smaller sub-committees for each event. So if you’d like to get involved in just one event and lend your particular skills, this is your moment. P&F is a fun way to get involved as much or as little as you like. No pressure.

More hands really do make light work. And yes, we do throw some pretty rad parties along the way.

🎧 Got a mini music-lover at home with elite playlist energy? There’s still time for one OGPS kid to go from bedroom DJ to the Apple Fair stage, with the chance to score:

✨ 4 mentoring sessions with DJ Rob Major ()
✨ A live 20–30 min DJ set on proper decks at the Apple Fair
No experience needed - just confidence and vibe.

Calling all tradies (with a sense of humour 🍎)

The Apple Fair is hosting a Tradies Auction - and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

✅ You take the stage.
✅ You show off your tools of the trade. 💪
✅ You tell the crowd what you do best.
💲 They bid for 2-4 hours of your time.

We’re not talking big builds, full renovations, or “while you’re here” jobs - think:

👨‍🔧 patching a hole in the wall
👩‍🌾 poisoning some stubborn weeds
👷‍♂️ a bit of handyperson magic
✂️ or even a family haircut

Just small tasks, good fun, and helping out the school.

Got a kid who lives for music and makes killer playlists? 🎶

The Apple Fair DJ Challenge will give one super-lucky OGPS kid the chance to go from bedroom DJ to a real stage.

All your child needs to do is submit a 3-4 song taster playlist by Monday (16 Feb) for the chance to:

🎧 Be mentored by DJ, Rob Major, (4 sessions)
🎛️ Drop a live 20–30 min set at the Apple Fair on proper DJ decks

No experience needed - we’re looking for confidence and vibe.

Playlists will be judged by Rob and stage sponsor, Marley Huxley from National Automotive Equipment Services.

The winner can then build on or evolve their playlist during their mentoring sessions with Rob.

📩 HOW TO ENTER

Parents: email a link to your child’s playlist plus a short intro video from your child to 📧 [email protected] by Mon 16 Feb, and we’ll let the winner know by the Wednesday.

You’ll be seeing more Apple Fair info over the next few weeks as we gear up for our *biggest fundraiser of the year*. A significant portion of funds raised will go towards bringing *The Resilience Project*’s School Wellbeing Program to OGPS, so there’s lots happening and plenty of ways to get involved. *Jump on board and get excited 🍎*

We’re running a surf gear stall at the Apple Fair.

Drop-off:

• Apple Fair takes 30% commission (_or you can donate entire proceeds to the school_)

The Apple Fair is back on Saturday, 14 March, and we’re now welcoming 2026 Sponsors to help make it our biggest year yet.

Partnering with OGPS for 2026 gives your business genuine community reach 600+ students, 400+ families, while supporting projects that make a real difference to local kids.

Funds raised from the 2026 Apple Fair will go towards wellbeing initiatives at OGPS, with an exciting announcement to be made very soon!

Last year, community support helped us raise $50,000 for playground upgrades, oval improvements and new classroom furniture.

We’re still collecting for the Apple Fair 🍎 and could really use a few more goodies for Sideshow Alley prizes.

🍏 What: Teddies, dolls, toys, and games (gently loved, not heavily chewed)
🍏 When: Drop-offs open all this week and next
🍏 Where: in the staff room

Every little bit helps us make the games area a hit for the kids and saves a few toys from landfill while we’re at it.
