Destination Dreaming

Destination Dreaming work with schools, businesses and sports teams to provide meaningful cultural and leadership immersions.

Destination Dreaming creates and facilitates intercultural and service learning programs for young people. We offer life-changing education programs for students, teachers and community groups. Over the past 17 years, we have provided inspiring educational opportunities for thousands of young people across the world, including supporting the construction of a primary school and clean water system in Fiji, facilitation of English tutoring programs in remote Timor Leste and provision of adventure learning programs for disadvantaged Queenslanders.

Victoria University Fiji study tour final update:

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates. We’ve been having so much fun creating new connections and learning from the local community.

After 9 nights in the highlands, the team spent the following 3 nights on the coral coast. We rafted the upper navua river on Tuesday, on Wednesday we spent the day with Victor Bonito from Coral Coast Conservation learning firsthand how to regrow coral reefs. For a couple of students it was their first time snorkeling.

Thursday was a day of reflection and yesterday we went to South Sea Island.

Today is Fiji Day. Happy Fiji Day Viti 🥳❤️

After 15 nights of adventure, culture, leadership & new perspectives on life, it’s time to head home.

Victoria University Fiji study tour update:

Super excited to have Victoria University students back in Fiji for their 5th consecutive annual DD study tour to the highlands & coral coast.

Accompanied by Dr Matthew Cox & Dr Casey Delmara, the 16 students studying outdoor leadership, outdoor education & environmental science degrees arrived in Fiji Friday night. We spent the weekend exploring waterfalls & local villages.

We’re spending the week supporting a rural primary school with their respective curriculum.

The Geelong College Fulfilling Lives Program update.

Over the last two weeks, 44 students & 8 TGC leaders were split across Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 & Fiji 🇫🇯 Highlands.

Fully immersed in local life, both students & teachers travelled with respect, humility & enthusiasm. A real pleasure to travel and work with!

Our immersions are both challenging & rewarding for those willing to see the world through the eyes of others.

On behalf of the Destination Dreaming team and our local communities in Fiji 🇫🇯 & Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 we want to express our gratitude to the TGC staff for your leadership and friendship over these last two weeks.

To the impressive young people who travelled with us, well done & good luck for the remainder of the school year. Dream big!

Hutchins School P9 Fiji final update:

The boys are on their way home after another successful Power of 9 Global Challenge Fiji.

The boys had a great day together on the river at the start of the week. The boys continued to build connections with the students at their respective local schools.

So much fun, adventure, culture, connection and learning!

Big Vinaka to the Hutchins leaders, we have been partners since 2014.

Hutchins School P9 highland immersion update:

Both groups are having the time of their lives. The weekend was spent adventuring around the highlands to caves, fishing, farming, waterfalls, learning local dances and having insightful reflections.

Today both groups are meeting on the river to have a picnic day. Cooking on hot rocks and playing river rugby.

The next few days we connect back at the schools to further develop this education partnership.

Only 3 sleeps left here in the highlands before heading back to Nadi.

Hutchins School P9 Global Challenge Fiji highlands update:

The boys have settled in well up here in the mountains. They travelled to Fiji on Tuesday & came straight to the highlands the following day.

Both groups have been welcomed into their respective villages via a traditional welcoming ceremony. This morning we’re visiting the local schools to engage in the local curriculum.

Isa Lequ Momo Levu, Momo Solo,

I first met Momo Solo in the Fijian highlands in 1998 as 19 yr old. He and his younger brothers shared so much wisdom about life, about culture and family with me that help shape my adult life! He passed away in his beloved village last week. Im deeply saddened that I can’t be there today at his funeral with all the family. I will never forget you Momo 💔😢🙏🏽 Rest in Peace.

Victoria University Fiji study tour final update:

We’re onboard our flight home after 15 nights of incredible connections, learnings and absolute adventure!

Big vinaka to the whole VU team here, setting new standards in immersive cross cultural learning experiences.

Vinaka vaka levu to all the local people that take care of us and teach us so many rich life learnings.

Again, we need to acknowledge the generous support from VU Thrive Grant

We hope to see Victoria University, Melbourne Australia back in the highlands in 2026!
