A big heartfelt congratulations to this team of stars. This is one of the biggest all girl tournaments in Australia and they have done incredibly well.

The majority of these players have been training or played for New Wave at various tournaments in the last few years, so to see their patience and trust in the process start to pay off for them is such a great feeling.

Well done girls on a fantastic tournament, eternally proud of you all ❤️

⚽ BALLARAT CUP 2026 — GIRLS U13 BARWON HEADS ⚽

What a weekend! 🙌

Our Under 13 Barwon Heads girls competed at the Ballarat Cup from Friday through to Sunday, and this is a result they will never forget.

🗓️ Friday night: The girls took on Surf Coast CPL and Doreen CPL.

🌧️ Saturday: A wet and challenging day saw them face Forest Rangers, North Geelong CPL and Ballarat City.

The girls finished 4th, fast-tracking them into the Plate semi-final on Sunday against Forest Rangers.

🔥 And what a game it was! An incredibly intense battle that went all the way to a penalty shootout. After finding themselves 3–1 down in penalties, the girls showed unbelievable grit and determination to fight their way back and win the shootout, booking their place in the Grand Final!

🏆 The Grand Final was another incredible performance. The girls dominated for large periods and fought right until the very end. Unfortunately, they conceded a heartbreaking goal in the final minutes, going down 1–0.

While the result wasn't what we wanted, this was our most successful tournament yet, and the girls should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

From playing through the rain, to battling tough games (and giving CPL teams like North Geelong and Doreen a real challenge), to clawing their way back from the brink in the semi-final and all the way to a Grand Final — this group showed grit, determination, resilience and incredible team spirit. 💙

👏 A massive congratulations to all the girls! You were amazing and did Barwon Heads proud.

🙏 A huge thank you to Coach Liam and Assistant Coach Craig for everything you put into this team, and to all the amazing families who travelled, supported, cheered and made the weekend so memorable.

Due to a lack of interest, the Tuesday Mixed program has been postponed for one more week. If you are interested, please book by Friday. If minimum numbers can be reached, the sessions will begin Tuesday October 13th. If they are not, anyone who has booked will be refunded instantly.

That's why we all play the sport, so we can split into teams, work out who's shooting which end and then it's straight into it.

New Wave will set up the pitch (the goals, the ball, the bibs), ref the game and bring the encouragement and positive vibes.
The players just turn up and play!

The program will run for 8 weeks from Oct-Dec.

Only one week until Matchplay begins!

Let New Wave run a game for you and your mates.

Players can arrive straight after school finishes and have a kick while set up is being completed. The session will then officially start at 3:30 and conclude at 4:15pm.

I will help organise the teams and ref the game.

This is a unique chance to keep soccer going in the off season in Ocean Grove, don't miss out on securing a spot before school starts back next week!

Two holiday workshops to help improve your game instantly. These will be very small groups, designed to help maximise instruction comprehension for each player.

Ball Striking Workshop
Tuesday 29th Sep 11am-12pm

A specialised session focusing directly on improving a player's ball striking technique.

Being able to kick a ball well is the biggest asset any player can have. In this session we will work on passing the ball, dead ball striking (used for free kicks, corners, goal kicks, penalties etc.) and first time striking (shooting at goal).

Defending Workshop
Monday 28th Sep 11am-12pm

A specialised session focusing directly on improving a player's overall defensive ability.

This session will focus entirely on becoming a more efficient and effective defender. I will cover different ways to approach an attacker with the ball, one on one defending, body positioning, how to delay, how to use your body correctly, how to time a tackle, when to tackle etc.

After completing this workshop, you will have a better understanding of why defending well is so important, and be able to instantly apply that knowledge and technique the next time you play.

Get it right, you don't even have to look.

Get it slightly off, like the first strike in this clip, and it can still work, just not as well.

Have no routine or structure in your strike? You are leaving it to luck.

Football Fest? Completed it mate ✅️

Thank you to all the amazing players and parents who came down to participate and make it the most successful New Wave holiday session yet!

We had a focus of passing, dribbling and finishing for this clinic and everyone, from all ages and experience levels, absolutley smashed it!
