Hi everyone, now that I’ve moved into writing and publishing I’ve changed my business name from gramliteracy to RLG Press. I’m still crafting and selling at markets so there’ll be some pics of new creations soon. Look out for my big news coming soon-something very close to my heart that I’ve been working on for a while.

Help Needed Please!

Parents with children 0-13 and Primary/Elementary Teachers -

I’m putting together a series of books to help parents with questions they have about schools, learning, readiness, friends etc and want to make sure I’m dealing with current issues. I would really appreciate your input.

Teachers- any questions you are noticing that are being asked often would be great too!

They can be about anything, e.g.
Why is the school changing the way they teach literacy and maths?
What does my child need to know before he/she starts school?
Why is my child not wanting to go to school?
Is my child behind in reading?
Why are children taking so much food to school?
Does reading to my baby really help them when they get to school?
Is my child being bullied or, is my child a bully

Write your questions in the comments but keep them general (not with names of kids or schools). The more the better!
It would extra helpful if you could share this post as well!

What do you do when you run out of envelopes? You make your own of course!

Today I’ve been busy making some letter identification games. You don’t have to spend a fortune to have activities that are targeted to need, easily differentiated and fun for kids to play.

I’m making this activity suitable for 3 different levels just by changing up the matching flowers. One set will be pure letter matching with the same lower case letters, the second with upper case letters and the third with a picture of something that starts with that letter for those ready for identifying initial sounds.

Any suggestions for how else it can be used?

I just love my new job! I’m working with some incredible teachers and literacy leaders to support them in developing aspects of their literacy program.
As a literacy consultant across various schools I get so see the many different ways our teachers make a difference every day. I can’t wait to share some of it with you.

I can’t believe how scared Benedict is of the new doggy door.
Not any old treat will get him to go through, for a dog used to a dry food diet barbecue chicken was just too tempting!
He won’t go near it at if the flap is down though.
Any suggestions?

Morning coffee in our new house. It’s been a hectic new year for us with a wedding and moving house. We still have lots of boxes to unpack so there’s no slowing down yet.

Benedict seems to have settled in nicely but the big test will be leaving him alone today while I go and get some jobs done. He’s an anxious boy and has become very used to having our company 24 hours a day.

Do you have any suggestions that might help to make our separate less stressful (for both of us!)?
