To celebrate Book Week, children dressed up as their favourite characters from books they love. It was wonderful to see their creativity and excitement as they shared their characters and stories with friends and educators. Through dressing up and talking about their favourite books, children celebrated the joy of reading, storytelling and imagination.

During Science Week, children explored science through a range of fun and hands-on experiments. They observed chemical reactions, explored how magnets work, and investigated sink and float by comparing aluminium foil with trapped air to tightly pressed foil. They also experimented with balancing paddle pop sticks in water, compared water with foam, and discovered that a candle needs oxygen to keep burning. When the oxygen was used up, the flame went out and water moved into the jar. These experiences helped children learn about air, oxygen, density, floating, balance, magnets and chemical reactions in an enjoyable and practical way.

Today at Kids Cottage, we had so much fun celebrating the baby showers of our two beautiful educators, Miss Nava and Miss Carina!The children enjoyed lots of fun activities, including recognising baby photos, colouring onesies, cleaning and bathing baby dolls, and suggesting creative baby names. We also enjoyed a lovely morning tea together. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter, excitement and special memories as we celebrated our wonderful educators and their growing families.

What can we do with our legs and feet? We can kick, jump, run, gallop, skip, yoga, long jump, bounce, complete an obstacle course and crush dry leaves. These fun movement experiences help children develop gross motor skills, balance, coordination, body awareness, strength, agility and confidence, while encouraging active play, problem-solving, perseverance and teamwork.

What can we do with our hands?

Our hands help us learn, create, explore, and grow every day! Through building towers and roads, creating gardens, driving cars, sensory play, balancing rocks, writing, colouring, and making music, mixing children strengthen both their gross motor and fine motor skills.
These hands-on experiences build hand strength, coordination, balance, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence while supporting children’s overall development through play. Every little movement helps little hands become stronger and more capable!

Our children enjoyed a fun colour sorting challenge using a spider web made inside a box! Using tongs, they carefully picked up coloured objects through the web and sorted them into the matching coloured trays. This engaging experience encouraged children to demonstrate excellent focus, persistence and problem-solving skills while strengthening their fine motor development and hand-eye coordination. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explored, practised and successfully completed the challenge.

Through engaging phonics songs, our little learner is confidently singing along and practising letter sounds, building the foundation for early reading and communication.
