Today at Oakdowns Early Learning Centre, children and educators joyfully participated in a Holi Colour Splash celebration, exploring colour, movement and shared celebration with their friends. Through this vibrant experience, educators created opportunities for children to connect with cultural traditions while engaging their senses and creativity. 🌈🎨

By participating in community celebrations such as Holi, children begin to develop an understanding that people, cultures and traditions are diverse and meaningful. Sharing in these experiences helps build respect, curiosity and a sense of belonging within their learning community.

The colour-filled play support EYLF Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world, as well as encouraged confidence and self-expression, supporting EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity, as children laughed, explored and celebrated together. 😊

Today we celebrated Walt Disney Day with both Educators and Children enjoying dress ups, movies and book inspired play to immerse in the joy of Disney. Pictured are some our our amazing team and a matching princess moment with Kaajal and her daughter Aashi.

🎄Each year, our amazing team generously volunteer their time to host our Annual Christmas Party — and once again, our community made last Friday a night to remember. ✨

This year’s celebration was filled with magic and festive fun! Santa arrived in style on the local fire truck, much to the delight of our children. We introduced a new snow machine sensory area, which quickly became a favourite, along with face painting, a petting zoo from the local farm we donate our daily food scraps to, and a visit from a local family’s ice-cream truck — another wonderful way we're proud to support our community.

The turnout was simply overwhelming, and the joy, laughter and connection shared throughout the evening is exactly why this tradition means so much to us. Thank you to our dedicated team, our families, and our incredible local partners for making this event so special. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🎅🎉✨

Today marked the beginning of our Diwali celebrations at Oakdowns with traditional dressing and food. ✨
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, a time to celebrate and illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. Our children will enjoy exploring the vibrant colours, music, and flavours of this special celebration throughout this week, learning about the traditions that bring families and communities together. 💛🪔

🚓👮‍♀️ What an exciting day at Oakdowns Early Learning Centre! Our local police stopped by for a special safety talk and to show off their equipment — with one very happy little officer-in-training, Remy, finally got his photo with the real police! 💙

A huge thank you to our wonderful community and local officers for making this visit happen so quickly after our Starbright children (3–5 years) wrote a heartfelt letter asking for these special visitors.

What an incredible response and experience for our curious little learners! 🌟

We're advocates for asking R U OK? Any Day 💛

Yesterday as an annual day provides a reminder that a simple question can change a life, however we intentionally encourage ongoing check-ins for our team, our families and our community, any day.

Whilst sharing conversations across cupcakes and morning tea is a great way to build connection, and show kindness and support for one another - asking the question is important at any minute of any day of the year, and listening is what is vital 💫

Regular, meaningful conversations with the people close to you can help prevent small things from becoming big things. By checking in regularly, you build trust…

Has your little ones grown out of their current nappy size and you’ve still got a few, a packet or a box left? We’ve all been there as parents and our centre is proud to offer an ongoing partnership with The Nappy Collective to ensure those remaining nappies are utilised.

Many families for various reasons face a nappy shortage for their little ones, and that’s where The Nappy Collective are providing a valuable community service. Simply drop your clean, no longer wanted disposable nappies into our centre (we have a collection box) and The Nappy Collective volunteers will collect, sort and distribute those nappies to local families with little ones.

Thank you to all of our families who have ready donated!
