💙 Father’s Day at SFdS 💙

It was wonderful to welcome so many dads, grandfathers and special people to SFdS for our annual Father’s Day celebration!

Our morning began with a special Father’s Day Mass, before families spent time together in our learning spaces enjoying some special activities. We then continued the celebrations with a delicious catered morning tea by .au.

We love this special annual tradition and the opportunity to celebrate the wonderful dads and special people in our SFdS community.

Wishing all of our dads and special people a very happy Father’s Day this Sunday! 💙

Spotted at SFdS: some VERY familiar characters… 👀

Book Week is well and truly underway! Our Book Week Character Parade was a sea of colour, creativity and much loved characters as our students brought the pages of their favourite books to life.

A huge thank you to our families for getting behind the fun and helping to organise some seriously impressive costumes. 😉 We know there’s plenty that goes on behind the scenes to make Parade Day so special!

And the festivities certainly hasn’t stopped there! There’s been lots happening across our classrooms, with stories, activities and celebrations continuing throughout the week, plus special lunchtime library sessions with Miss Morse.

We love seeing our school buzzing with excitement about books, characters and reading! 📚✨

Science Week the SFdS way! 🥼🧪🔍🚗💨

Science has been at the heart of our inquiry learning throughout Term 3, with our students stepping into the shoes of scientists. In the lead-up to National Science Week, we had a spectacular whole-school Mad Science show and our Year 3-6 students enjoyed an exciting excursion with our friends at Penola Catholic College.

For the big week itself, we well and truly went all out! From experiments and into friction and gravity, to exploring different types of scientists, investigating forces, and even creating push-and-pull puppets. It’s safe to say Science Week has been a huge hit at SFdS!

What a day for our incredible netballers at Regionals on Friday! 🏐

Finishing 4th in the region is an outstanding achievement! Across four tough games, our team showed determination, resilience and fantastic teamwork. We are so proud of the way they represented our school!

A huge thank you to Mrs Paxman for coaching, supporting and encouraging the team throughout their journey, and to all of our wonderful supporters.

A very belated birthday celebration for a very special centenarian! 🎂🌏

Our whole school recently came together to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, which he marked back in May.

As scientists this term, we have been inspired by Sir David’s lifelong curiosity and the gentle, thoughtful way he observes the natural world and encourages us to wonder, discover and care for it.

From Prep to Year 6, students created portraits of Sir David at different stages of his remarkable life, adding animals, plants and other elements of the natural world he has spent a lifetime exploring and protecting. 🐝🦋🌿🐋

Brought together, these portraits became a very special whole-school artwork celebrating 100 years of curiosity, discovery and care for our planet. 💙🌏🔬

A very happy (and very belated!) 100th birthday, Sir David! Thank you for inspiring generations to look closely, stay curious and care deeply for our incredible world.
