From Wednesday, 27 May to Wednesday, 3 June Oak Flats Public School celebrated Reconciliation Week. The 2026 theme, "All in" called for all Australians to commit to reconciliation, every single day. This was a time to reaffirm our commitment as a school community to acknowledge that we learn, play and live on what always was, and always will be Dharawal land, every day. Across the week, our students spent time learning about the history and meaning of reconciliation. On Tuesday, 2 June we welcomed families and visitors to attend a whole-school smoking ceremony, followed by a very special assembly led by our Aboriginal student leadership team. We were also privileged to have Uncle Layne join us and share his story. Thank you to our special guests, families who joined us for the barbeque organised by our Oak Flats Public School P&C, and to our incredible Aboriginal student leadership team who, guided by Ms Hamilton, did an outstanding job of sharing the meaning of this time and helping us to remember that we are stronger together.

It was a beautiful winter's day on Dharawal Country yesterday when representatives from Year 5 and 6 came together to go "all in for reconciliation" at the Shellharbour City Council Reconciliation march. It was wonderful to see our students connecting with each other, Country and community.

Wishing Daisy H, Wynter H and Layla M the very best of luck as they represent South Coast in rugby league. After a huge day today in Cronulla, they still have two more days left of competition. We are so proud of their achievement ππ
