Got something to say about what a safer, better-prepared South Australia should look like?

The SA Government is currently asking young people and the wider community for their perspectives as they refresh South Australia’s Disaster Resilience Strategy (2026–2030).

It covers all kinds of disasters and emergencies and how our communities can better prepare, respond and recover.

If you’re a young person in SA, you can add your perspective through the survey below.

The YourSAy survey for the refresh of South Australia’s Disaster Resilience Strategy (2026–2030) is still open. We seek to capture diverse perspectives to inform more effective approaches to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Thrive Barossa is running Youth Co-design Workshops to gather ideas and experiences from young people about the social activities they want to see in the region.

If you can’t attend, you can still tell us your ideas; just select the “Can’t attend but want to have my say” option in the form and you’ll be taken straight to the survey. We’re accepting Have Your Say submissions until 31st July.

This is your chance to help shape activities that matter to local young people.

Last week our regional tour continued in the Barossa as our CEO, Natalie Matulick, met with a range of organisations supporting local young people.

We heard from youth, metal health, employment and disability service providers and organisations, along with schools across FLO, secondary and tertiary spaces.

These were fantastic conversations, showing incredible passion and commitment to the young people in their region.

Key issues discussed included:

📍 Gaps in targeted youth services across inner regional areas close to Adelaide
🚗 Limited public transport and difficulties getting driver's licenses
🧠 Rising mental health concerns
🏡 Ongoing youth homelessness and housing insecurity
🎓 Growing disengagement from education and employment pathways
🌐 Unequal access to reliable internet across the Barossa.

It was also great to hear about The Barossa Council's new digital wellbeing space, and the contributions of the Council Youth Wellbeing Network to the resource 👉 https://www.wellbeingbarossa.com.au/

A big thank you to everyone we connected with throughout this trip. We value the conversations shared and look forward to continuing this work together.
