Since the beginning of Term 2, the ELC Explorers have engaged in many meaningful learning experiences and celebrations together. They explored ANZAC Day through group discussions, creative experiences such as making poppy flowers and colouring ANZAC teddy pictures, helping the Explorers build an understanding of remembrance and respect for others.
They also incorporated Aboriginal perspectives into their program through worship, role-play, sensory play and learning to recognise Aboriginal symbols, supporting the Explorers’ appreciation of culture and diversity.
They celebrated Mother’s Day with a special morning tea, where the Explorers enjoyed spending quality time with their mums and showing their love and appreciation.
These experiences have all supported the Explorers’ sense of identity, belonging, communication and connection with their community, linked to VEYLDF Outcomes 1, 2 and 5.

NCC held its first Astronomy Star Gazing Night weeks ago, with volunteers from the Astronomical Society of Victoria sharing their passion, knowledge and equipment with the group in attendance. We were awed by the beauty of the heavens and reminded of our great Creator God who made all things and who looks after all things, including us. We hope to do more of these evenings in the future!
"I had an amazing time at the Star Gazing night. Looking at something I knew was such a long distance from us, so much so that imagining it was pretty much impossible, was one of the most eye-opening experiences I have ever had. We saw Jupiter, The Jewel Box, and the Moon, among other things. Being able to see what these distant planets, moons and constellations looked like up close for the first time was awe-inspiring, and I want to thank the volunteers and the teachers who helped make that night happen. I really hope we can do this event again next year." - Student
"I really appreciated the combined wisdom of the members of the Astronomical Society of Victoria. It was great to have a chat with each astronomer and learn about their favourite night sky images and how each telescope worked. My favourite thing to look at was the surface of the moon with all of the craters, but the Jewel Box and Jupiter, its gas bands and its moons were also pretty cool." - Teacher
