🌟 October Calendar of Events 🌟

We have a wonderful month of fun, learning and special experiences ahead! Take a look at what’s coming up this October.

5th of October – King’s Birthday Public Holiday Our service will be closed on Monday, 5 October, and reopen as usual on Tuesday, 6 October.

5–11th of October – World Space Week We’ll be exploring the wonders of space, planets and beyond!

5–11th of October – Australian Wildlife Week Celebrating Australia’s amazing wildlife and the creatures we share our world with.

12th of October – No Text Day Educators will put the iPads down and focus on being fully present with the children. Essential documentation, will still be completed as usual.

15th of October – Global Handwashing Day Learning about handwashing and the importance of keeping our hands clean and healthy.

16th of October – Graduation Photos We can’t wait to capture special memories of our amazing graduates!

21st of October – Wildlife Reimagined Experience A special experience for the children, commencing at 10:00 am.

23rd of October – Grandparents’ Day Morning Tea A special opportunity to celebrate the wonderful grandparents and special older people in our children’s lives. More information coming soon!

27th of October – Tie Day Time to show off those amazing tie creations from September!

28th of October – Children’s Day Celebrating children, their voices, their rights and everything that makes them unique.

30th of October – Dress-Up Day Get creative! We can’t wait to see our little learners’ imaginative outfits.

🌸 September Learning & Fun at Cornerstone Early Learning Academy 🌸

Take a little look at our snapshot of what we got up to throughout September!

We welcomed the arrival of Spring and have loved making the most of the warmer days and all the wonderful opportunities this season brings for learning, exploring and playing.

From hands-on experiences and creative activities to outdoor adventures, sensory play, construction, nature exploration and plenty of opportunities to learn through play, September has been full of curiosity, discovery and fun!

Our educators have loved watching the children’s ideas come to life, seeing their confidence grow and supporting them as they explore the world around them.

A special day to celebrate and recognise the wonderful work of our amazing Early Childhood Educators.

4th September – Father’s Day Morning Tea
We look forward to welcoming all Dads, Grandpas, Uncles and special people in our children’s lives to celebrate together.

6th September – Father’s Day
Happy Father Day

10th September – R U OK? Day
Wear something yellow to show your support. R U OK? Day encourages us to meaningfully connect with those around us and support anyone who may be struggling with life.

11th September – Library Van Visit
A fun opportunity for the children to explore the joy of books and storytelling.

18th September – Talk Like a Pirate Day
To celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day, we’re hosting a Pirate Dress-Up Day! Children are welcome to dress up as a pirate and join in the fun.

21st September – World Gratitude Day
A day to celebrate kindness, appreciation and all the wonderful things we are grateful for.

22nd September – Tie-Dye Day
Please bring a white item of clothing for the children to enjoy creating their own colourful tie-dye designs.

23rd September – International Day of Sign Languages
Celebrating communication, inclusion and the beautiful diversity of sign languages around the world.

28th September – No-Tech Day
A day to put technology aside and enjoy meaningful play, connection and hands-on experiences together.

30th September – Sleep Outside Day
We’re looking forward to finishing the month with an exciting outdoor adventure.

📚✨ Book Week 2026 ✨📚

What a magical Book Week!

Our centre was filled with imagination, creativity, and lots of amazing storybook characters!

From dressing up as favourite characters to exploring beloved stories, getting creative and sharing special moments together, everyone certainly knew how to get into character!

Books are such an important part of childhood. They help children develop language and communication skills, spark their imaginations, build an understanding of the world around them and create wonderful opportunities to connect, talk and learn together.

In the early childhood years, sharing books also supports children to build their listening and attention skills, learn new vocabulary, develop early literacy skills and begin to understand that stories can be shared, enjoyed and explored in many different ways.

Reading together encourages children to ask questions, express their ideas, make connections and develop a genuine love of learning. It also provides beautiful opportunities for educators and children to slow down, connect and enjoy a shared experience together.

We loved seeing the children’s excitement as they recognised familiar stories and characters, shared their own ideas and brought their imaginations to life throughout the week.

A big thank you to our wonderful families for embracing Book Week and helping make it such a special celebration of stories, learning and imagination.

📢 Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Balancing Has Started!

Centrelink has now started balancing families’ Child Care Subsidy for the 2025–26 financial year.

This process checks the CCS you received against your actual circumstances and income for the year. You may receive a top-up, or in some cases, have an amount to repay.

👉 Make sure your income estimate and tax return are up to date with Centrelink to help avoid any surprises.

If you have questions about your CCS balancing, please contact Services Australia/Centrelink directly.

🌟 Early Learning Matters Week 🌟

Today, we were delighted to welcome Fiona Phillips MP to Cornerstone Early Learning Academy. It was wonderful to spend time together, sharing what our service is all about and why we are so passionate about early childhood education.

We loved showing Fiona what a day at Cornerstone looks like from joining the children for some fun and learning to chatting to our educators about the importance of play-based learning and the lasting impact high-quality early education has on children, families, and our wider Shoalhaven community.

At Cornerstone, we are incredibly passionate about creating a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn. We know that the early years lay the foundations for lifelong learning, and we are proud to support children and families through these important years.

A heartfelt thank you to Fiona for taking the time to visit, listen to our educators, and recognise the important work being done by early childhood professionals across our community. Your genuine interest in what matters to children, families, and educators is greatly appreciated.

To our incredible educators, thank you for your dedication, kindness, and passion. The difference you make in the lives of children and families every day is truly remarkable, and we are so proud to celebrate you this week and every week.
