We had a fabulous turnout for our open classrooms today to celebrate Public Education Week. Families visited classrooms to share in the learning, which ranged from literacy lessons to mathematical activities to science experiments. Family and friends then stayed and had a picnic lunch in the sun under the beautiful trees on our infants site.

**Online safety reminder for families**

As the school holidays approach, routines often change and children may spend more time online, sometimes with less direct supervision.

Families are reminded that, under Australia’s social media minimum age requirements, age-restricted social media platforms must not allow Australians under 16 years of age to hold accounts.

We encourage all parents and carers to remain vigilant and:

• know which apps, platforms and group chats your child is accessing
• regularly review privacy settings, contacts and online activity
• talk openly with your child about respectful and responsible online behaviour
• remind children not to save, share or respond to inappropriate or harmful content
• encourage them to speak with a trusted adult if they see something that makes them feel uncomfortable, worried or unsafe.

Online group chats can change quickly, and content shared as a joke can cause significant harm to others and may be difficult to remove once circulated.

Keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility. We encourage families to use the upcoming holiday period to review devices, accounts and expectations for safe technology use.

Further information and support for parents and carers is available through the eSafety Commissioner.
