Today our school community came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a special assembly, recognising and honouring the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our students shared thoughtful prayers, stories, reflections and traditional dances.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making today’s celebration so meaningful and for the opportunity to learn together as a school community.

❄️ Get Ready to Dance! Winter Disco Tickets Are On Sale Now! ❄️

The St Michael’s P&F can't wait to welcome our students to this year's Winter Disco! Grab your friends, put on your dancing shoes and get ready for a fun-filled evening of music, dancing, glow sticks and plenty of excitement!

📍 School Hall

🕺 Infants (Kindy – Year 2): 5:00pm – 6:00pm
💃 Primary (Years 3 – 6): 6:15pm – 7:30pm

🌈 Coloured hair spray available on the night for a gold coin donation
🏆 Prizes for Best Dressed in each session, so get creative and show off your best winter disco style!

🎉 Important Information

• This is a student-only drop-off event.
• Parents and carers will not be permitted to enter the disco or remain on site unless they are registered volunteers.
• The Winter Disco is organised and run by the St Michael's P&F Association, not the school. As the event takes place after school hours, there is no requirement for teaching or school support staff to be in attendance.
• The disco environment can be loud, energetic and exciting. If your child may need additional support during the evening, we encourage you to volunteer so you can be there if needed.

🙌 Volunteers Needed – Join the Fun!

Our discos simply cannot happen without our amazing volunteers. We are looking for extra helpers to supervise doors, assist around the dance floor and help with stage supervision throughout the night.

Volunteering is a great way to be part of the excitement, support our school community.

Volunteers must:
• Be registered through the school (check out the upcoming newsletter for the link)
• Hold a current Working With Children Check
• Be confirmed prior to the event

Last Friday, we were blessed to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone as Father Pat marked his 60th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. Our School Captains and Student Representative Council members proudly represented our school community at the Mass celebrated with Bishop Brian. Father Pat is a treasured member of our school and parish community, and for many years he has been a walking example of Jesus' love through his kindness, humility, generosity and care for others.

During the Mass, Father Pat shared some wonderful stories and memories from his sixty years of priestly ministry. His reflections were both inspiring and uplifting, reminding us of the many ways God has worked through his life of service. We are incredibly grateful for the wisdom, encouragement and faith-filled witness that Father Pat continues to share with our students, staff and families.

Adding to the celebrations, Father Pat also joined our staff in the staffroom last week as we celebrated his 85th birthday. It was a special opportunity to acknowledge not only his remarkable years of priestly service but also the joy, warmth and pastoral care he brings to our community each day.

We thank God for the gift of Father Pat and pray that he continues to be blessed with good health, happiness and many more opportunities to share his faith with others.

A reminder that students may wear normal clothes instead of their school uniform on the following dates:

🧥 Friday 26 June – Winter Clothes M***i Day
All students are encouraged to rug up and wear their favourite winter clothes to support St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Please bring along a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going towards helping those in need in our community.

🏃🏃‍♀️ Monday 29 June - Infants Athletics Carnival
K-2 students can dress in their house colours to support their team.

All students are invited to wear red, black and yellow clothing to celebrate NAIDOC Week and participate in our special NAIDOC Assembly.
