We are incredibly proud to see our Sir Hubert Wilkins Year 8 Camp recognised as an Exemplary Program recipient in the 2026 Outdoor Education Australia Awards.
This recognition is a testament to the passion, dedication and innovation of our outstanding Outdoor Education faculty, who continue to create meaningful experiences that challenge and inspire our students.
The Sir Hubert Wilkins Camp provides a unique opportunity for Year 8 students to step outside their comfort zones, develop resilience, leadership and independence, connect with culture and Country, and make a genuine contribution through service learning. These experiences leave a lasting impact long after the camp has ended.

Today we head south to Adelaide, where Lutheran independent school Immanuel College is our next Exemplary Program recipient in the 2026 Outdoor Education Australia Awards.
The College is being recognised for its Sir Hubert Wilkins Year 8 Camp, an innovative place-based Outdoor Education experience that takes students from Adelaide to Mount Bryan East in South Australiaโs Mid North, connecting challenge and personal growth with culture, community, service and the remarkable history of the region.
Established in 2022, the program takes students to the birthplace of celebrated South Australian polar explorer, aviator and scientist Sir Hubert Wilkins. Through hiking, navigation, bushcraft, environmental learning and reflection, students build resilience, independence, teamwork and leadership while learning about Ngadjuri culture, connection to Country and the responsibility of caring for the environment.
Importantly, students also give back. Through service projects helping restore and maintain Wilkinsโ birthplace and the former Mount Bryan East School, they make a tangible contribution to preserving local heritage.
In just a few years, the camp has become a flagship Year 8 experience at Immanuel College, with students describing lasting gains in confidence, independence and achievement.
Congratulations to the Immanuel College Outdoor Education team on this well-deserved recognition.
