Shinkyokushin karate is a traditional Japanese martial art. Wollongong dojo Shihan John Hall, 5th Dan Shin translates to new.
Shinkyokushin Karate Wollongong Dojo is a member, as are its students, of the World Karate Organisation (Shinkyokushin). We are a traditional Japanese style of karate and train the way it was intended by Sosai Mas Oyama. We are a new organisation training in the old traditional way. Our organisation is growing and developing with a mandate to produce only the finest of Karateka.

More than three and a half decades of Karate training has taken me to many countries around the world and I have met, trained and spent time with the best karateka in the world. This photo was in Poland in 2022 with the 2 greatest Karate fighters of all time, Tsukamoto Shihan and Shimamoto Sensei. I had the pleasure of bringing both world champions to Australia for training camps. Many competitors from Wollongong dojo have travelled internationally to complete and are sponsored by the WKO Australia to do so.

Karate is great for kids. It builds fitness and confidence.
Kids classes are only $65 per month. We train Tuesdays and Thursdays 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
The first two classes are free, so you can try it out without any obligation. Just turn up ten minutes before the class time and speak to Shihan John Hall. Our dojo is located at 39 Atchison Street, Wollongong. We also accept the Active Kids voucher.
