🎨🧸 Exploring Colours, Textures, Shapes & Construction 🧸🎨

What a wonderful hands-on learning experience we've had at Guardian Macquarie Park 💛✨

Our nursery and toddler little learners have been busy exploring a variety of colours, textures, shapes and construction materials, using their curious minds and little hands to investigate, create and discover. 🌈👐
Through these engaging hands-on experiences, the children had opportunities to squeeze, grasp, stack, connect, sort and build, supporting the development of their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and problem-solving abilities. 🧩🏗️
It was beautiful to see our nursery and toddler children working together, making choices, experimenting with different materials and proudly creating their own little constructions. Every touch, movement and discovery was a valuable part of their learning journey 💕✨

Starting with Respect: Consent in Every Interaction 🌱
At our Macquarie Park Centre, we are exploring children’s rights in meaningful ways that are embedded within our everyday routines, relationships and interactions.
One of the ways we are supporting children to understand their right to express their preferences, communicate their feelings and have their voices respected is through our learning about “Yes”, “No”, “Stop” and “Go”.
In our Nursery, educators have created a visual consent display that connects these ideas to familiar parts of the children’s day, including group time, nappy changes, meals, sleep and play. Using facial expressions, body language and simple visual cues, children are supported to recognise that they can communicate how they feel—even before they have the words to express it.
In our Preschool, the children have taken an active role in shaping their own Consent Wall. Older children helped write the words, while younger children represented their understanding through drawings and expressions. Children also shared their own ideas about what a “happy face” and a “no face” might look like, making their voices and perspectives visible within the learning environment.
These experiences help children understand that communication comes in many forms—through words, facial expressions, gestures and body language—and that each form deserves to be noticed and respected.
Most importantly, we are creating everyday opportunities for children to experience that their “yes” matters, their “no” matters, and their voice matters. Through responsive and respectful interactions, children are developing confidence, agency and an understanding of respectful relationships from the very beginning. 💛

🌈🐑 Crazy Sock Week Fun in Nursery & Toddler 🧦🎨

What a fun and engaging week we've had at Guardian Macquarie Park 💛✨

Our Nursery and Toddler children have been busy developing their fine motor skills through hands-on, play-based experiences. From exploring Crazy Sock Week with colourful socks and creative activities to learning about shapes and colours through painting, every experience encouraged little hands to grasp, hold, squeeze, dab and create. 🎨🖐️
The children also enjoyed exploring the much-loved story “Where Is the Green Sheep?” 🐑💚, bringing the story to life through interactive play, movement and creative experiences.
These simple yet meaningful activities support our little learners as they strengthen their hand and finger muscles, develop hand-eye coordination, build concentration and gain confidence in using their growing skills. 🌱💫

🌈🔢 This week in our Nursery & Toddler room, we explored colours, numbers, and so much more through play!

Our little learners enjoyed building colourful towers, sorting and counting blocks, matching vehicles to numbers, and discovering colours through hands-on experiences both indoors and outdoors. Every moment was filled with curiosity, problem-solving, movement, and plenty of smiles.
As children played, they were naturally building their confidence, developing their thinking skills, and strengthening both their fine and gross motor skills. It has been such a joy watching each child learn, explore, and celebrate their own little achievements. We can't wait to see where their curiosity takes them next! 💚

What a fantastic week we've had celebrating NAIDOC Week at our Macquarie Park centre! 🌿🎨 The children explored Aboriginal symbols through painting and loose parts, created beautiful Indigenous Flag collages, discovered the unique sounds of the didgeridoo, and enjoyed songs about Australian animals. We also explored Indigenous science by learning how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples used the constellations as seasonal calendars to help understand the weather. To finish each day of learning, we came together for group discussions at the beginning and end of the week to share what we had discovered about Indigenous culture. It was a joyful week of creativity, curiosity, reflection, and respect as we celebrated the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ❤️💛🖤💙💚

NAIDOC Week is a special time for us at Guardian Macquarie Park

We celebrate and honour the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ❤️💛🖤
Throughout the week, our Nursery and Toddler children have been exploring First Nations culture through storytelling, music, art and hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, respect and a genuine sense of connection. It's been wonderful to see their excitement as they learn about Australia's First Nations peoples in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.
These experiences are part of our everyday learning, helping children grow with kindness, understanding and an appreciation for the world's oldest continuing cultures.
Happy NAIDOC Week from all of us at Guardian Macquarie Park! ❤️

📚 The Joy of Reading In Macquarie Park 📚

We have been taking some time to reflect on how we can create more opportunities to involve our families in our everyday learning experiences. We wanted to find a way to bring the joy of reading from our room into children’s homes, and from this reflection, our mini family library was created!

Families are welcome to borrow books from our little library to enjoy together at home, creating special moments of connection through stories. We also love when children bring their favourite books from home to share with their friends. Watching their excitement as they introduce a story that is special to them reminds us how powerful books can be in building confidence, imagination, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.

Every story shared, whether at home or in our room, helps nurture children’s love of reading and learning. We are so excited to continue growing our little library together with our families and creating many more shared reading moments! ❤️📖
