Scottish Highland Dance is a traditional, competitive style of solo dance originating from Scottish Highlands in the 19th century. It is a recognised Sport in Scotland where competitions take place worldwide including the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia. peted in the sport for over 20 years in Australia and overseas and has been a member of the renowned OzScot Australia and Edinburgh Military Tattoo dance teams. Dancers at the Perth Academy of Highland Dance are provided with opportunities to compete locally and across Australia as well as opportunities to perform across WA at multi-cultural events celebrating the unique style, culture and precision of Scottish Highland Dance. Lessons focus on creating a balance between technical work, choreography, fitness, fostering discipline and resilience as well as having fun in a supportive and nurturing environment. Group and private classes are held in North Perth and Mount Hawthorn as well as in Northam. Perth Academy of Highland Dance welcomes and encourages dancers from ages 4 years to adult and is open to all new enquiries.
