Another exciting project is the development of a new Tudor House Recreation Shed.

This versatile, all‑weather space will provide a central hub for students and staff, supporting everything from outdoor education and sport to boarding life and community gatherings. With generous indoor and covered outdoor areas, it will create more opportunities for connection, activity and shared experiences across the School.

Projects like this help strengthen the everyday life of Tudor House, creating spaces where students can come together, participate and thrive.

Wednesday marked a rare and very meaningful moment in the history of The King's School when the Archbishop of Sydney, The Most Reverend Kanishka Raffel, commissioned Reverend Stephen Edwards as the 21st Headmaster.

We are grateful to all who attended and shared in this significant milestone, and we look forward to this next chapter together as a community.

As International Archives Week comes to a close, we reflect on the importance of preserving not just the past, but the stories that shape our future.

Today’s records, from photographs and publications to student work and key moments in school life, will become the archives of tomorrow. Each generation plays a part in capturing, preserving and sharing the stories that define our community.

At The King’s School, the Robert Robertson Museum connects these stories across time, ensuring they continue to inform and inspire future generations. As part of this, we’ve created a digital archive for our community to explore, with more collections to come.

Explore the digital collection here: https://virtual.kings.edu.au/

As we look ahead to our bicentenary in 2031, we also invite our community to consider whether you hold items of significance that could contribute to our shared history. If so, we would love to hear from you at [email protected]

Another key focus this Annual Giving Day is supporting our youngest learners at the Prep School.

This year, we are looking to create a dynamic new Prep School Playground, designed to inspire creativity, movement and discovery. With engaging play spaces, improved safety features and inclusive design, it will be a place where every child can explore, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Together, we can help shape an environment where our youngest students thrive.

This Annual Giving Day on Thursday 18 June is an opportunity for our King’s community to come together and continue a proud tradition of generosity, supporting meaningful projects across our campuses.

In 2026, construction will begin on the new pool facilities. This project will transform the current facility into a modern 10‑lane competition pool, complete with two full‑sized water polo courts, improved changerooms, enhanced accessibility and a new grandstand for 600 spectators.

It’s a project that will create lasting impact for current and future students.

For generations, The King’s School has shared a deep connection with rural and regional communities, a legacy that continues to shape who we are today.

This Annual Giving Day, we invite our community to support The Next Crop, a program dedicated to providing means‑tested boarding bursaries for students from country and regional areas. It’s an opportunity to open doors for young people who may not otherwise have access to a King’s education.

By supporting The Next Crop, you are helping to shape future leaders who will grow through challenge, enrich our School community and carry the spirit of King’s back to the communities they call home.

The story of King’s is told not only through official records, but in the everyday moments shared by its community.

Photographs preserved in the Archives, from classrooms and sporting teams to cadet corps and quiet moments between friends, capture the spirit and rhythm of school life across generations. They remind us that history is shaped not only by milestones, but by the connections and experiences that bring our community together.

A recent example brings this to life, with the 1st XI cricket team achieving back‑to‑back AAGPS premierships under the same captain in 2024/25 and 2025/26. Through the Archives, we see this success mirrored exactly 100 years ago, when JB Egan led the team to the same achievement in 1924/25 and 1925/26, echoing the leadership of current captain VS Gandhi.

These moments, past and present, highlight the continuity of the King’s story. By preserving them, the Archives ensure that the people, connections and traditions that define the School remain visible for generations to come.

As we lead up to Annual Giving Day, we’re sharing a series that reflects on the generations of supporters who have shaped The King’s School through their generosity and belief.

We first look back to 1864, when the School faced closure, before Old Boys and the wider community came together to restore it. Their determination ensured the story of King’s would continue, laying the foundations for the School we know today.
