📖 Reading can take girls well beyond the pages of a book.

It introduces them to lives they haven’t lived, perspectives they haven’t considered and questions they may not have thought to ask. As girls encounter different characters, cultures and ideas, they are also learning to interpret complexity, think critically and understand experiences beyond their own. 🔎

That is why Book Week is about more than celebrating favourite stories. It is an opportunity to nurture something fundamental to learning: girls who are curious enough to keep reading, confident enough to form their own interpretations and open enough to have those interpretations challenged.

Throughout this week at Tara, our students will read, create, discuss and connect with stories in many different ways - celebrating the joy of books while recognising the important role reading plays in how we understand ourselves and the world around us.

🎶 What stood out at our Year 7 and 8 Music Concert was just how much talent there was on that stage.

Performance after performance, it was wonderful to see students so young perform with such technical ability and musical maturity.

And behind what we saw on stage were hours of rehearsals, practice and persistence. Each performance reflected the work these students have put into developing their craft, supported by their teachers, families and one another. 🤩

For students with a passion for music, opportunities like these provide the space, specialist support and encouragement to keep developing their skills and see just how far their talents can take them.

Congratulations to all our Year 7 and 8 students on an outstanding evening of music. 💙

An evening to celebrate creativity, courage and the journey behind every major work. ✨

Our HSC Showcase welcomed families, staff and students to experience the remarkable work of our Year 12 students across a range of creative disciplines.

While the finished pieces were inspiring, what made the evening truly special was the opportunity to recognise the dedication behind each work. Every artwork, design and project represents months of curiosity, experimentation, persistence and growth as students transformed ideas into meaningful creative expressions.

It was also a chance for our community to come together - to celebrate one another's achievements, acknowledge the encouragement of teachers and families, and reflect on the confidence our students have developed throughout the creative process.

Congratulations to every student who shared their work. Thank you for inviting us into your thinking, your creativity and your journey. We are incredibly proud of all that you have accomplished and look forward to seeing where your talents take you next. 💙

💜Learning how to work with others is something best learnt by doing.

Through our Through the Hedge partnership with The King's School , our Junior School students have regular opportunities to learn alongside boys of a similar age through shared experiences designed to build confidence, communication and collaboration. 🤝

Recently, our Year 3 students came together for a NIDA workshop exploring creativity, communication and performance, while Year 4 students connected through choral workshops and shared performances.

🌏 The learning goes well beyond drama and music. Working with students from another school gives our girls opportunities to meet new people, listen to different perspectives, contribute their ideas and become increasingly confident working with others.

By creating these opportunities from a young age, Through the Hedge helps our students develop the social confidence and skills they will carry into secondary school and beyond.

💙 Crazy hair, a race of coins and a lesson in what it means to serve others.

Last Friday, our Junior School came together for Crawford House’s Service Learning Day, raising funds to support Martha, a 14-year-old girl in Mexico whom Tara has supported through Compassion International for the past five years. ✨

Classes worked together to create the longest line of donated coins in our ‘Race to Martha' and enjoyed a colourful Crazy Hair Day with the official race.

But behind the fun was something much more meaningful. 💗

As an IB Primary Years Programme School, we encourage our students to turn their learning into action. Service Learning Days give our girls an opportunity to look beyond themselves, understand the experiences of others and see how even small actions can make a difference. 🌏

It’s learning that helps shape not only what our girls know, but how they choose to contribute to the world around them.

Some new arrivals have been getting plenty of attention in Kindergarten. 🐥

As part of their Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry, Kindergarten students have been closely following the journey from egg to duckling through their Hatch ’n’ Grow experience.

🐣 Before meeting the newly hatched ducklings, students spent time observing, asking questions and collecting data as they investigated what was happening inside the eggs and throughout the hatching process.

Now, they’ve had the chance to get a little closer to the subject of their research, with some very gentle hands and plenty of curiosity. 🔎

🎼A school musical is about so much more than the final performance.

This week, our Year 7–10 students joined students from The King's School to bring Disney's Beauty and the Beast to life in a spectacular production. 🥀

Behind every performance are months of rehearsals, teamwork and determination. Along the way, students build confidence, resilience, leadership and the courage to step outside their comfort zone.

✨We believe a girls' education should create opportunities for every student to discover her strengths. Productions like Beauty and the Beast are one example of how learning at Tara extends beyond the classroom, giving students the confidence to take the next step - on stage and in life.
