The Australian Specialist Cheesemakers' Association (ASCA) represents the Australian specialist and artisan cheese industry. Its role is to promote and accelerate excellence and bring together the best available knowledge and expertise to stimulate dialogue and provide continuing education, operational guidance, recognition and professional growth and development for its members, and t

o develop and promote consumer awareness and appreciation of Australian specialist and artisan cheese. ASCA has operated since 1994 as a member-based industry association for Australia’s artisan cheesemakers, members of associated industries and cheeselovers to act as a catalyst in stimulating the growth and development of the specialist and artisan cheese industry in Australia. In the industry's relatively short history, ASCA has witnessed significant development within the specialist and artisan cheese sector and a growing consumer appreciation of the quality products being produced. Has anyone else noticed that Australian artisan cheesemakers have been kicking big goals and winning big awards in recent times! A big shout out to all the winners of the 2025 World Cheese Awards held recently in Switzerland. Prom Country Cheese won a Super Gold medal for their Inverloch Blue. Long Paddock Cheese won a silver medal for Driftwood. Woodside Cheese Wrights won three medals - a silver for Kris Lloyd Artisan Buffalo Marinated Cheese, and for Tom Tomme and a bronze for Kris Lloyd Artisan Flower Power. Bruny Island Cheese Co. & Bruny Island Beer Co. also won two bronze medals for 1792 and Raw Tom. Congratulations all!! You are all legends!! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

HUGE news in cheese world this week with the legends at Long Paddock Cheese winning some big awards in France. Long Paddock Cheese has won a GOLD medal at the prestigious Mondial du Fromage competition in Tours, France for their Banksia cheese! They have also earned a BRONZE medal for their Bluestone, a Stilton-style blue! They were the only Aussie cheesemaker to be recognized this year. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

In case you missed it...here is a summary of the winners from the 2025 Dairy Awards. Big congrats to Lilyarra Artisan Cheeses in SA, who impressed judges with their Goat Curd with Fresh Dill, winning the Real Dairy Australia Trophy, Champion Cheese from a Small-Scale Dairy Producer, and the Say Cheese Trophy for Champion SA Manufactured Cheese. The same product was also named Most Outstanding Non-Bovine Exhibit. πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

The 2025 Dairy Awards celebrated Australia’s dairy industry, with standout wins for South Australian producers.
