Some student placements are pretty incredible. But at River Nile School, it’s the dreams behind them that inspire us most.
When Rojan told us she wanted to become a ship captain, we knew we had to find a placement that matched her ambition!
Thanks to Svitzer Australia , she’s now completing her Structured Workplace Learning placement out on the water in Port Melbourne.

At River Nile School, pathways aren’t one-size-fits-all. They’re built around the aspirations of each student.
Whether that’s on a ship, in a hospital, a workshop, a studio or an office, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue the futures they imagine for themselves, even when at times - existing systems weren’t built with them in mind.
For young women from refugee and refugee-like backgrounds, meaningful workplace experiences can open doors, build confidence and help break down barriers to life after school.
Just as importantly, our students bring fresh perspectives, resilience and talent to every workplace they enter.
We’re always looking to partner with organisations that can offer placements, mentoring or career pathways for our students.
