Our Refugee Week Exhibition 2026 was so special!!
Huge credit to all the staff, teachers and students - the building looked amazing, and the amount of work contributed across every level was truly extraordinary. It was such a warm, grounding space to be in.
Truly a powerful powerful reminder of what community, care and storytelling can look like when theyโre truly centred.
Our students are so full of stories, surprises, resilience and strength. ๐ซถ๐พ

A powerful win for the Socceroos, and a reminder of the many journeys that shape Australian sport.
Nestory Irankundaโs goal reflects more than a moment in a match it reflects years of experience, movement, identity, and determination carried onto the world stage.
As Refugee Week begins, we recognise the stories behind moments like these, and the people whose paths have shaped the game we see today.
At River Nile School, we see these stories reflected within our own community - in the experiences, cultures and journeys that walk through our doors every day.
Everyone deserves full access to opportunity in sport, education and beyond. โฝ๏ธ
Last week, River Nile School students attended the 2026 AAFRO Careers Expo at
, joining African students from across Victoria for a day of learning, inspiration, and connection.
Our students represented themselves incredibly well, engaging thoughtfully with panellists, asking insightful questions, and sharing their aspirations for the future.
A big thank you to the team, panellists, and speakers for creating such a valuable opportunity.
We were especially inspired by the powerful words shared by , which resonated deeply with our students.
Opportunities like this are so important.
When young people can see themselves reflected across different fields and industries, it expands what feels possible.
Continued investment and representation in these spaces is so important.๐ฉท

Meet Spiced Up - our incredible student dance crew who perform in our school halls and just about everywhere these days!
On 18 May, welcomed the crew to teach an Afro dance class.
Movement at RNS is integral to wellbeing, and weโre so grateful to get to share this with our wider community.
Everyone deserves access to dance, joy and movement alongside education and the everyday rhythms of life. ๐

2 weeks ago, our students attended the VCE & Careers Expo and had an amazing opportunity to explore future pathways, ask questions, and connect with universities, TAFEs, employers and industry professionals.
From hospitality and community services to trades, business and university pathways, our students gained valuable insight into the many opportunities available after school.
It was great to see everyone so engaged, confident and curious about their futures!
A big thank you to the organisers of the VCE & Careers Expo for creating such an informative and inspiring event.

Our latest Refugee Education & Empowerment Network (REEN) meeting was our biggest yet with over 190 registrations, around 110 attendees and 370+ members nationally.
We heard powerful insights on advocacy, lived experience leadership, ethical storytelling and youth-led anti-racism.
At the centre of it all is centring lived experience in decision-making.
Huge thanks to our speakers, partners and everyone growing this movement.
โLetโs keep the pressure on and the passion high!โ Sally Baker
