It is with a lot of sadness that I let everyone know that the founder, visionary and driving force of The Engineering Link Group, Dafydd Geraint Paul Richards (Paul to his many friends), passed away yesterday (Friday), surrounded by his family and friends.
I first met Paul as a very young teacher in 1994, and from that moment, we became firm friends, and later partners. To say that Paul significantly changed the trajectory of my life would be an understatement! TELG took us everywhere from Geelong to Guangzhou, Brisbane to Beijing, Sydney to Shanghai, Lismore to London, Newton Abbott to Newcastle, and so many other places, too many to name. Paul's vision to provide a reason to study Maths and Science through the vehicle of engineering has changed countless students' (and many adults') lives! There are hundreds of engineers in the world, making the world a better place, because he never stopped dreaming of how he could make a difference. I'm just forever grateful that he brought me along for the ride, and that I can continue that legacy is my honour.
To Lesley, Alun and Karina, Owen and Renee, Gemma and Marcus, and his five grandchildren, and all of Paul's friends and family, you have Tania and my deepest condolences. We also know that Paul is resting comfortably now - no more pain or frustration! He went out on his own terms, in his way, surrounded by those who love him and whom he loves.
Paul - I'll miss your stories, your wisdom, your anecdotes of history, places or events that I'd usually never heard of, but was always very keen to know. It was NEVER boring.
