Young kids are famously bendy, but rapid growth spurts and long hours sitting at school desks can cause their hamstrings and inner thighs to tighten up fast!
When these muscles get tight, it can lead to slouching, clumsy steps, and even growing pains. Keeping them supple helps with their balance, posture, and coordination. It also helps our karate kicks. 🥋

We say "NO WAY" to bullying!! Tonight we learned the difference between someone who is being mean, someone who is just annoying and what bullying actually is. We learned what to say and do if we witnessed or experienced bullying in person or online. We say "no way" to bullying!!! Karate Australia Karate Queensland

Bullying is a topic we cover regularly at Karate. This week, all over Australia, schools and Karate Australia member dojo’s are all shining a spotlight on the issue.
Bullying is so more complex than simply telling a child to “stand up for themselves,” or “ignore them”.
In this dojo, we work on the person, not just the punch. We teach children to recognise the difference between being mean and bullying. We talk about personal boundaries, courage, self-worth and being an upstander rather than a bystander.
And we remind them that real strength can look like:
🥋Including someone who is being left out.
🥋Saying, “That’s not okay.”
🥋Having the courage to do what’s right, not what’s popular.
🥋Walking away instead of escalating.
🥋Being kind when nobody is watching.
The goal isn’t to create children who are looking for a fight. It’s to help them develop the confidence to know who they are, what they stand for, and how to respond when life gets difficult.
They also learn they have a full karate family holding them tight and backing them if things get tough.
