Our Year 11 Geography students ventured north to Ikara-Flinders Ranges where anticipation was high for a remarkable transformation of the desert landscape.

With this year’s exceptional rainfall, the region came alive, native vegetation flourished, wildlife was abundant, and students experienced Fern Tree Falls in full flow for the first time. The group completed iconic trails including Rawnsley Bluff, Old Wilpena Station, and Arkaroo Rock, learning along the way about National Parks’ management strategies to protect Ikara.

A special highlight was meeting rangers Tanya and Ruadhan, who spoke about their connections to culture and the Bounce Back Program while working to restore the area after recent floods.

This unique, nature-based journey brought our group closer together, with many new friendships formed and valuable insights gained. Thank you to everyone who supported this memorable learning experience!

"What do you value when there is nothing of value left?"

Throughout Term 3, our Year 8 classes have been attempting to answer this question by placing themselves an apocalyptic world. Students have been exploring this idea in their core subjects - English, HASS, Maths & Science.

Last week, students were transported to the "Apocalyptic Market Bazaar" where they needed to work collaboratively in their teams to purchase the required materials to build their Mousetrap Escape Vehicle. Students were challenged with a constantly changing economic environment which caused the prices of materials to fluctuate and relied on their collaboration skills to ensure they walked away with their desired items.

Next steps for this project is for students to use their knowledge of energy and forces to build their escape vehicle!

It’s SSO Week, so we’re celebrating our incredible School Services Officers (SSOs), facilities and grounds staff, youth and social workers, psychologist, and Aboriginal Secondary Education Transition Officer (ASETO)!

Every single day, these amazing people make a meaningful difference in the lives of our young people, our families, our staff, and our broader community. Whether they’re supporting a student, solving a problem, creating a safe and welcoming environment, caring for our facilities and grounds, connecting families, listening when someone needs it, or quietly making a hundred things happen behind the scenes, their contribution is essential. And let’s be honest… our school simply wouldn’t run without them!

This term, we’re putting the spotlight on building strong habits that promote punctuality and attendance.

Our school day kicks off at 9:00am each day, and 10:10am Wednesdays. The movement bell sounds 10 minutes before classes start giving everyone time to grab what they need from their lockers, get organised and ready to learn.
Our gates open from 8:30am, giving everyone plenty of time to catch up with friends and settle in before lesson 1.

Let’s work together to develop great habits that set our students up for success! Thanks for your support in helping your young person arrive on time, every day.
