📚🌟🧡 BOOK WEEK, DAY FIVE: THE GRAND FINALE! 🧡🌟📚

And just like that, BOOK WEEK HAS COME TO AN END! But WOW did we finish it with a bang!!

Today our service was completely taken over by characters! We had a whole crew of bright orange Loraxes, the Three Blind Mice, some magical little fairies, the mischievous Cat in the Hat and SO many more incredible characters wandering around!

There was colour EVERYWHERE, plenty of giggles, lots of excitement and some seriously amazing costumes!

From Toy Story and crayons, to Matilda and fairies, our Red Nose Disco, Minions, Stick Man and finally today’s character explosion, what an AMAZING week it has been!

📚✨ FIVE DAYS. COUNTLESS CHARACTERS. SO MANY MEMORIES. ONE VERY AMAZING BOOK WEEK! ✨📚

📚✨ BOOK WEEK, DAY FOUR! ✨📚

How are we already at Day Four?! And somehow the costumes just keep getting better!

Today we had some very cheeky little Minions, an absolutely INCREDIBLE Stick Man and a whole collection of other wonderful, wild and completely random characters walking through our doors!

The creativity this week has been AMAZING! We’ve loved seeing everyone arrive each morning excited to show off their costumes, recognise their friends’ characters and bring some of their favourite stories to life.

From tiny Minions causing mischief to Stick Man stepping straight out of the storybook, Day Four was another huge hit!

We have absolutely loved every second of Book Week so far, and there’s still ONE MORE DAY OF FUN TO GO! 👀

Okay, DAY THREE WAS AN ABSOLUTE PARTY!!
Today we mixed all the magic of Book Week with our Red Nose Disco Day, and what a FUN combination it was!
Our service was filled with amazing costumes, plenty of dancing, music and some seriously impressive little dance moves! From our Book Week characters to our disco superstars, everyone brought the ENERGY today! 🌟
There were smiles, giggles and lots of grooving as we danced our way through another incredible day of Book Week!
Books + costumes + red noses + a DISCO = the perfect Wednesday! 🙌❤️
Three days down and the fun is definitely NOT slowing down yet! 👀📖✨ We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Today our service was filled with a little extra sparkle as we welcomed some familiar characters straight from the pages of Matilda and SO many more incredible book characters!
There were colourful costumes, lots of excitement and plenty of BIG smiles as everyone showed off their amazing Book Week looks!
We absolutely LOVE seeing the creativity and excitement Book Week brings to our service, watching our favourite stories and characters come to life has been so much fun! 💕📚

📚✨ BOOK WEEK, DAY ONE! ✨📚

And what a way to kick off Book Week!

Today our service was absolutely bursting with colour, characters, and LOTS of excitement!

We had some of our favourite Toy Story friends, some very colourful crayons, and so many other amazing costumes, bringing our favourite books and characters to life!

The children had the BEST time checking out everyone’s costumes, sharing plenty of smiles and laughs, and enjoying all the Book Week fun! 💛

Safe to say, DAY ONE WAS A HIT!

We absolutely loved seeing everyone get involved, and this is only the beginning! We can’t wait to see what the rest of Book Week brings!

🌏✨ Celebrating Culture, Connection & Belonging ✨🌏

What an incredibly special day we had! Our team came together to celebrate the beautiful cultures, traditions, and stories that make our community so unique 💚

Our educators proudly shared traditional attire and adornments from their cultures, creating meaningful opportunities for our children to see, explore, and learn about the many different ways cultures can be expressed.

Throughout the day, we were introduced to some beautiful traditional pieces, including:

🌸Raj wearing a traditional Shalwar Kameez paired with a Dupatta,
🌸Kimish wearing a beautiful Kurt,
🌸Traditional Jhumka earrings, known for their stunning bell shaped design,
🌸A Maanga Tikka, traditionally worn along the hair parting,
🌸Bindis worn between the eyebrows,
🌸The Hindu tradition of Sindoor, a red powder traditionally worn by married women, with Manisha sharing this meaningful custom,
🌸a beautiful Saree showcasing another stunning form of traditional dress,
🌸A traditional Chinese Chipou, recognised for its elegant, form fitting design,

But today was about much more than beautiful clothing ❤️

It was about sharing stories, asking questions, building connections, and giving our children authentic opportunities to experience the diversity that exists within our Green Leaves community.

Through these moments, children begin to understand that while our families may have different clothing, languages, traditions, and celebrations, every culture is something special to the community we share.

Who needs a tonic, herbal tea, or natural remedy? 🪴 💊

The Junior Kindy room has you covered in their very own compounding pharmacy. This has been an exciting addition to their hospital dramatic play.

Using their amazing fine motor and sensory skills, children have been mixing, crushing, and exploring natural materials.

This activity has been a wonderful way for children to connect with the land and culture, and to appreciate the wealth of knowledge and traditional ways of caring for one another.

🐳🐋 Caring for our oceans 🐬🪼

The Preschool children have been learning about the importance of global citizenship.

The children helped to make the resources and prepare a sensory tray that highlighted what pollution looks like in our oceans.

Once created, they then explored the elements and worked to clean up.

This activity fosters an appreciation of our surrounding environments and the impact we have not only on creating pollution, but also on ways we can prevent, minimise, or amend it.
