May is the month for raising community awareness on the issue of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention, and this Sunday is DV Aware Sunday. The Anglican Church of Australia has resources for churches to use, and St Barnabas College Library also has books on domestic violence, coercive control and trauma which can be used for sermon preparation, pastoral care or just for enhancing your understanding. Many of these books are on display in the library and are available for borrowing.

God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks today for the peace and security we enjoy.
We remember those who in time of war faithfully served their country.
We pray for their families, and for ourselves whose freedom was won at such a cost.
Make us a people zealous for peace, and hasten the day when nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither learn war any more.
This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world: Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Amen.

We pray: Help us to believe, Lord, that ends are but beginnings and that graves are but the doorway to a new life. For you are Lord of the living and the dead.

We pray:
Lord, dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life. Fill our hearts with your courage so that we no longer remain bystanders but can be counted among those who work for justice and peace.
