Spotlight on Year 6

A few weeks ago we went to Canberra. It was the one moment we were looking forward to the most in the whole school year and definitely the most memorable one. The cool thing about Canberra is that every statue, every building, every playground and park you could possible find has a story to it. Questacon was crazy fun where we could touch and play with all the exhibits, the art galleries and museums had beautiful sculptures and paintings, the War Memorial and ANZAC parade were heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time, being able to visit both the old and new Parliament Houses allowed us to see connections with our classroom learning and skiing was just the best! Some of us were very tempted to quit at the start because it was really tricky, but by the end we were all able to ski down the slope and ride the chairlift back to the top. Canberra camp is definitely one to remember for all the right reasons.

Spotlight on Year 4

Our Year 4 students have been busy exploring exciting learning across the curriculum! In Science, students have begun investigating the important roles of organisms within ecosystems and are learning how living things are connected by constructing food chains. Our students are developing their understanding of how energy flows through a food chain and the important role each organism plays.

In HASS and English, students are combining their research and persuasive speaking skills to create spoken arguments about actions our school can take to enhance the sustainable use and management of renewable and non-renewable resources. We look forward to hearing their thoughtful ideas as they work together to become confident communicators and responsible environmentalists.

Throughout the term, students will have many opportunities to read, analyse and comprehend a variety of texts across all learning areas. By embedding reading into our daily learning, we will continue working towards our whole-school goal of "Strong Readers, Strong Learners!"
