As we move into the first term of 2026, I'm excited to be celebrating seven years of teaching English!

This is an exciting time for me. I've had the privilege of sharing my love of reading and writing with over 200 precious and unique children of different ages and from so many different backgrounds. Some have continued my classes since nearly the beginning, while others have passed through briefly on their road to future adventures.

Whatever the duration, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time guiding students into the wonderful world of words, whether through literature studies, writing projects, phonic adventures, or private tutoring.

I feel so blessed to be able to experience this journey, to be part of your journey, and I am excited to see where 2026, my eighth year of classes, carries us!

Author Suzannah Rowntree visited our Creative Writing Class today to share writing tips and answer some excellent questions from the children. What an exciting time to hear from someone who has worked so hard and learned so much on her own writing journey!

She compares writing to going to a gym and expecting to bench press a tremendous weight. You can lift the weight, but only after you have worked up to that point. It takes patience, practice, and perseverance.

I am proud of the way the students in each class have worked so hard this year, building skills and developing talents in so many beautiful ways.

🌟 Well done to all of my wonderful, hard-working students! 🌟

In Term 1, dozens of essays, short stories, poems, paragraphs, sentences, spelling words, blends, and letters hit the paper. From Austen to Orwell, from sounding out words to mastering chapter books, this term has been productive and rewarding. What a wonderful way to enter this year of learning. I am excited to see where the next term takes us.
