Essington Junior School is holding an R U OK Yellow Silly Sock Day on Thursday 10 September to recognise R U OK Day and raise awareness for the importance of reaching out to your friends and family and starting a conversation that could save a life.

Students are invited to wear yellow silly socks, yellow hats, headbands, and hair accessories with their school uniform on Thursday, when they will participate in activities throughout the day focused on friendship and empathy.

We're looking forward to seeing happy pops of yellow throughout our Junior School on Thursday!

What a night! ✨

On Thursday 27 August, our Years 10–12 students walked the red carpet for the 2026 Glitz and Glamour Semi Formal — and they certainly dressed to impress!

The evening was filled with dancing, laughter and plenty of glamour, including a Lip Sync Battle, Best Dressed and Best Dancer awards, and special appearances from Hollywood legends Audrey Hepburn and David Bowie. 🎤🏆

The Glitz and Glamour Semi Formal is a much-anticipated event on The Essington School calendar, creating memories our students will treasure for years to come.

A huge thank you to our wonderful teachers for their support throughout the evening, and to our parents and students for continuing to support events that bring our community together. 💙

This morning, our school community came together for a wonderful and well-attended Father’s Day Breakfast, hosted by our Senior School.

It was a great morning celebrating the fathers, grandfathers and special people in our students’ lives.

Huge thanks to Sara Materazzo, David Ambrose and senior students, who helped prepare, serve and make the morning such a success. We are grateful to all the families who joined us and made the occasion so special.

💡REMINDER - Father’s Day Breakfast at Essington 💡

Join us tomorrow morning from 7:30am outside the Canteen area on the main campus as we celebrate the wonderful dads in our Essington community.

Enjoy delicious bacon and egg sandwiches, with vegetarian options available. An onsite coffee van will also be serving tea and coffee available for purchase.

Our Stage 2 Earth and Environmental Science and Stage 2 Palaeontology students recently enjoyed a hands-on learning experience at the McArthur River Mine site. 🔬🌏

Students explored the geology of mineral deposits, how ores are concentrated, and the refining processes used in mining. They also learned about the extensive conservation, rehabilitation and environmental monitoring undertaken to help protect local ecosystems during operations and beyond.

Thank you to Glencore McArthur River Mine for welcoming our students and sharing this valuable insight into mining, geology and environmental management.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world industry practice — and perhaps inspire some future miners, geologists or environmental conservationists along the way! 💙

Helping Families Affected by the Floods in Nepal

A member of our Essington parent community, Dr Surag Khadka, (Retrieval Registrar, CareFlight NT), is raising funds to support families affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.

The floods have left many families without homes, livelihoods and access to basic necessities. Children are among those most affected, with many in urgent need of safe shelter, food and essential supplies.
For Nepalese families living in Australia, including members of our own Essington community, this disaster is particularly close to home.
