💙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟭/𝟮 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 @ 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 💙
As part of our ongoing visits to 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲, our 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟭/𝟮 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 class spent a wonderful morning with residents today, sharing stories, asking thoughtful questions and enjoying plenty of conversation together. 💬

With 𝘔𝘳𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘩𝘭 on the piano 🎹, students sang 𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳 🎶 before performing their winning poem, 𝘛𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦, from the Launceston Competitions 🎤, bringing plenty of laughter and smiles to the room!

A huge thank you to 𝘔𝘳𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘛𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳 for her continued leadership of this beautiful initiative! 🙏

💙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟱/𝟲 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 @ 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 💙
As part of our ongoing visits to 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲, our 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟱/𝟲 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 class enjoyed a joyful morning with residents this week, sharing plenty of chatter, laughter and stories 💬, along with a few cheeky and competitive rounds of noughts and crosses! ❌⭕

To finish the visit, 𝘌𝘭𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘦 shared a beautiful piece on the piano 🎹 before 𝘔𝘳 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘹 𝘞𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘺 pulled out his guitar 🎸 for a feel good rendition of "𝘉𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺", complete with his finest vocals and plenty of enthusiastic participation! 🎶

🕊️ 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 ✝️
This past Friday evening, we celebrated the 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 with His Grace, Archbishop Tony Ireland, and our Launceston priests at Church of Apostles. 🙏

During his homily, His Grace likened the Sacrament of Confirmation and the 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 to a trip to Bunnings!

🌱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: the Holy Spirit helps your faith grow.
🛠️ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: the Spirit strengthens you to live with courage and love.
🩹 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: the Spirit helps you heal, forgive and make things right.

🐧𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹’𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆🐧

Our Grade 3/4 students were excited to take part in the Australian Antarctic Festival’s Penguin Rookery, held in Hobart from August 20–23. Students (and staff) had lots of fun decorating their own penguins, using their creativity to make each one colourful and unique.

Our penguins joined hundreds of others created by schools and community groups from across Tasmania, Australia and around the world, making an amazing Penguin Rookery for festival visitors in Hobart to enjoy.

The Australian Antarctic Festival is run by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that helps share the story of Sir Douglas Mawson and Australia’s Antarctic history. Taking part was a great way for our students to learn a little more about Antarctica, its wildlife and Australia’s special connection to this incredible part of the world.

We loved seeing the creativity and effort our Grade 3/4 students put into their penguins and were very excited to see our St Thomas More’s penguins proudly on display in Hobart!

🩺🔬 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣 𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦! 🧸✨

Our Preps had a very special visit from some Bachelor of Medical Science students this week for their Health lesson — including former STM student, Olive Morris!

From glittery finger plastering 🩹 to hunting invisible “germs” with UV light 🧼 and discovering the organs inside Teddy’s body 🧸, our little scientists had so much fun learning how we can look after our amazing bodies! 💕🔬

The joy of Book Week doesn’t end when the parade is over! 🎶📖

One of the most treasured traditions of Book Week at STM is the joy of being read aloud to — and we truly believe you are never too old for a good story, or too grown-up to be swept away by someone else’s words.

A very special Book Week tradition is having Mr Douglas visit our classrooms to read to the students. There’s something wonderfully magical about gathering together, listening to a story unfold, sharing a laugh, wondering what might happen next and simply enjoying the experience of being read to. ❤️

And the fun continued throughout the classrooms on our Book Week Dress Up Day! Our students enjoyed stories, characters, costumes, creativity and plenty of opportunities to celebrate their love of books and storytelling.

𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡’𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙚𝙖!
This week we celebrated students who demonstrate the Gospel value of 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧. Over fruit, cake and muffins 🍓🍰 we shared gratitude for loving families 💙, kind friends who make us laugh and respect our boundaries 🤝, the food we enjoy, family holidays, and even Mr Douglas for leading our school!

Their hobbies included soccer ⚽, footy 🏉, basketball 🏀, netball, swimming 🏊, surf life saving 🌊, boxing 🥊, rugby, rock climbing 🧗, dancing 💃, piano 🎹, drawing 🎨 and making bracelets. We also wished one of our Launceston Blues footballers the very best for their Grand Final this Saturday! 🏆

PART ONE: The Parade

There were simply far too many wonderful Book Week moments to fit into one post… so we’re spreading the celebration across three! 🎉 Keep your eyes peeled for more photos and stories from our Book Week celebrations over the coming days.

And what better place to begin than with the most beloved part of Book Week… THE PARADE! 📖✨

Our STM students and staff pulled out all the stops, bringing their favourite characters, stories and imaginations to life. From much-loved picture books to adventurous heroes, magical creatures and everything in between, our parade was a wonderful celebration of the joy that comes from getting lost in a good story.

This year’s theme, “A Symphony of Stories,” celebrates the many different voices, characters, worlds and experiences that come together to create the beautiful music of literature. 🎵📚

And behind our Symphony of Stories is our wonderful Teacher Librarian, Ms Rebecca Thomas. ❤️

Book Week is the culmination of weeks of sharing the CBCA shortlisted stories with our students, exploring language, settings, characters and the art of storytelling. Ms Thomas is the composer of our STM Symphony of Stories — carefully curating collections, knowing the reading tastes of our students, and connecting children with the books and resources that will capture their imagination. She has even catalogued our entire school library collection online, bringing our print and digital resources together for our community.

How fortunate we are to have someone who knows our students as readers so well, and who creates a library where everyone can find a story that feels like it was written just for them. No wonder Library is everyone’s favourite time of the week! 💕📚

A huge thank you to Ms Thomas for making Book Week — and reading, storytelling and the love of books — such a special part of life at STM.

Yesterday we celebrated one of the most eagerly anticipated events on our school calendar, our 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗨𝗽 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲! 🎉

Students and staff brought characters from across the world of literature to life 🧙‍♂️🦸‍♀️🧚‍♀️🐉 as we celebrated the 2026 CBCA Book Week theme, 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴. 🎼
