We are incredibly proud to share that Suzane Hamilton, has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours List for her outstanding service to the community.

Many people know Sue as the friendly face behind Learn for Fun at Atwea College for the past 13 years, where she helps create opportunities for people to connect, learn and engage with their community. This honour, however, recognises her tireless volunteer work and the countless hours she has dedicated to supporting others across the Tilligerry Peninsula over many years.

While this recognition celebrates Sue's contribution to the community, she is passionate about highlighting the role volunteers play in creating strong, connected and resilient communities. Through their generosity, dedication and willingness to support others, volunteers make a lasting difference in the lives of those around them, and Sue hopes this honour encourages others to recognise and value their contributions.

Sue's passion for people, community connection and helping others is evident in everything she does, both as a valued member of the Atwea College team and as a dedicated volunteer.

Congratulations, Sue, on this well deserved honour. Thank you for the difference you make in so many lives and for the positive impact you continue to have across our community.
