The children explored sculpture, painting, and mixed media through a vibrant artist collaboration. The gallery owners kindly took the time to explain some of the artists’ processes, methods, and materials, sparking great curiosity.

We also talked about the idea of working in pairs to create art - something we’re excited to experiment with in the studio over the coming months! Stay tuned.

“A sausage roll,” “Ninja roll,” or “Roly poly” – whatever you name it, the net is the hot ticket place to be today.

At HCCC, we embrace risky play to nurture emotional resilience. By allowing children to explore their limits safely, they learn to manage fear and anxiety. This play encourages self-regulation and patience, aligning with educational theories that value experiential learning.

We see bravery grow right in front of us as they face their worries.

We transformed an old cot base into a living cubby roof! With screwdrivers, vines, and helping hands, the children joined in weaving greenery through the slats, repeating the rhythm of the movement together. "Over, under. Over, under".

This evolving project is rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, valuing the environment as the third teacher and honouring children as capable collaborators in shaping their learning spaces. The cubby roof isn’t just shelter; it’s a shared creation, a tactile story, and a growing invitation to connect with nature, each other, and the possibilities of reuse.

In a Reggio-inspired space, the environment speaks. It welcomes, invites, and reflects the ideas of children. Every detail is intentional. Soft light, natural textures, open-ended materials, and photos of family and learning all help children feel seen, heard, and inspired. We believe the environment is the third teacher — shaping relationships, encouraging wonder, and offering endless possibilities for thinking and creating together.
It’s not just a space to play… it’s a space to belong, learn and experience.

A unique place to learn and grow...

Set in a converted federation house surrounded by beautiful outdoor areas. Children are provided with a safe, caring and stimulating environment, with an emphasis on the natural world.

Experienced, qualified and passionate educators ensure you feel invited into our safe and secure play spaces.

A unique feature of our centre is family grouping. Children of all ages remain together for large parts of the day and are encouraged to see themselves as part of a larger community. It provides opportunities for children to be with their siblings (if present at the centre) and enables the children to learn with and relate to, both older and younger peers.

We are proud of our innovative child-centred arts and educational program based on the Reggio Emilia approach, which emphasises that that children are co-collaborators with educators and each other in their learning.
