Love good old fashioned hand written feedback.

Thank you to everyone who attended a course taught in Mayfield, Newcastle 2 weeks ago - you all were amazing too!

I always say a course is only as good as the people who do them!

What a privilege to be able to be 1 of 2 trainers running each course.

Feedback about ASIST courses are phenomenal. A real deep dive in su***de prevention and safety. The framework used is useable and relevant.

If you are wanting to upskill and get more information feel free to message me.

I’ll be co-training courses this year and would love to have you, your organisation or friends and family come along. It’s a great investment in yourself.

On Monday I saw my psychologist Maddie.
Everyone needs a Maddie.
They can't, because she is going on Maternity Leave, but, everyone should have someone like her in their life!
I cant share a photo of her due to Code of Conduct so this is photo seemed appropriate.

I have been seeing Maddie for about 7 years, ranging from seeing her once a week to once every 3 months.

We chat about things in my professional and personal life. It's a game changer. Venting, bouncing ideas, talking things through, gathering tools to deal with sticky situations, reflecting on my own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, questioning them, and possibly changing them. To learn skills for my toolbox for life. She has seen me 'stuck' and 'thriving'. I can keep it real with her.

Taking the leap to go and see a psychologist can be daunting. I liken it to shopping for a formal dress. You don't know what size, what suits you, where to go to get a good one, or you may think you might need to lose weight or change something before starting the process. Like many things though, once you just start the process and test out different options, it is okay.

Keeping it real though- Maddie was my 3rd psychologist. We just gelled from the first session. It's not one size fits all. It's okay to not gel with everyone. Just like with the dress, there are all kinds of designs and variety. The psychologist - or any kind of therapist - for you needs to be the best fit, the best price, the best look, and you need to feel good in it. That can take time and effort, but once you find the right one, it's worth it. And we need to vocalise this more. We always hear about bad experiences, but let's talk more about the good. And that good could be different for each of us. There's an abundance of psychologists and counsellors all specialising in different therapies, so treat it as trial and error. Maybe art therapy, EMDR, DBT, CBT, Interpersonal Therapy, sand play therapy, therapy out in nature.... so many. There's a range of prices from paying $0 to a lot!

Nowadays there's less stigma about seeing a psychologist or counsellor. The more we use them and normalise therapy as a great tool for wellbeing, the better society will be.

I am now using Maddie's referral to see someone else in her absence.
Like all therapists and professionals your situation can change, and theirs can too, so I feel privileged to have had her for 7 years. I know she will be an excellent Mum and I wish her all the best for the love filled times ahead .

Thanks for the season Maddie, and if you decide to have more seasons I will embrace them in the future. For now my advice is to soak up being a Mum and all that entails. It's one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.

Another great course out at Tomago Aluminium last week. They look studious right? We also had a whole heap of laughs and vulnerable moments whilst learning skills to put in our toolboxes to help others. Love my job! Thank you for having me again and looking forward to the next course.
