Dust off the term 4 blues with our next Natla meeting where we will be joined by local artist and illustrator, Beau Wylie!

Beau works in oils, acrylics, pencils and collage, his artwork and illustrations are a home for eccentric, misfit characters, unexplained happenings and is an invitation down the rabbit hole of curiosity, wonder and a little bit of mischief.

Get ready to hear from Beau about how he tries to tap into a childlike drawing process of having his pencil go on a walk and see where it ends up. Hear about his journey from artist to illustrator and the differences between the two.

Following the author visit, we will have our general business where we will debrief over MANTLE conference happening later this week.

This meeting will occur on Tues Oct 27th beginning at our usual time of 2pm and will be at Mayfield East Public School. Please feel free to invite people you think may be interested!

We ask that non-members bring $10 to contribute to the cost of the presentation.

Elebana PS and Medowie PS competed last week in the Readers Cup final. We went to Stanton Library in Sydney for the event. The questions were harder, we came 5th (Elebana) and 6th (Medowie) in the state. Well done!🎉
We had a lovely surprise visit from Christopher Cheng. 🤪

Earlier this month we enjoyed our visit from Deborah Abela. Started the session with readers theatre from Book of Wonderous Possibilities. 📚
Deb’s sense of fun and enthusiasm is contagious and we left with multiple ideas to promote reading for pleasure. ❤️

We have a very exciting meeting coming up at 2PM June 2nd at The Junction Public School. Deb is an incredible author with many titles under her belt including The Kindness Project, the Max Remy series, The Book of Wondrous Possibilities and many more. Deb will be sharing about her process, showcase her books and give ideas of promoting her books with students! This will certainly be a PL that will fill your TL cup ☕️

We have a very useful meeting coming up where we will collaborate on creating booklists to resource the new HSIE curriculum. Please bring any books that you have that you think will align to the new syllabus to showcase and share with everyone.

This meeting will be at Merewether Public School on the 10th of February (week 3) at 2PM. Please park on the street and sign into the office before heading upstairs to the library!

MANTLE paralleled Christmas for us: copious goodies, book talks, advocacy, connections, expert workshops and ideas. Such a remarkable day. 😍

A delightful evening for NATLA members at the post-Book Week celebrations. It began with a visit to Harry Hartog’s bookshop, followed by delicious Italian at Criniti’s, and a fun, book week Kahoot. Congratulations on your retirement, Di, we are certain that your passion for reading will grow.

Our next meeting will be on Book Week Ideas which is always a very valuable and productive meeting. The meeting will be on Tuesday June 10th at Thornton Public School at 2PM.

Please bring a Book Week idea to share with the group! Our ideas will be added to the Natla Google Drive for all to use.
