Seeds for Science Week 🌱🔬
Throughout the year, the children have been saving and propagating seeds from the fruits they’ve tasted. This Science Week, we’re watching our little seeds grow and exploring the wonders of nature, growth and change. 🌱💚
The Big Treehouse
The Big Treehouse now offers New Lambton and surrounding suburbs with a boutique childcare facility for preschool-age children age three to six.

Sometimes the greatest learning happens when we simply slow down, step outside and embrace the wonders of nature. 💚

The children have been exploring the art of sewing throughout the year, developing patience, persistence, creativity and fine motor skills with every stitch. 🧵✨
It’s such a privilege to support children in learning practical, lifelong skills they can carry with them well beyond their early years. Watching their confidence grow as they master new techniques and proudly create something with their own hands has been incredibly rewarding.
What a wonderful day at our Big Treehouse Growers & Artisan Market! 🌿💚
Our market was a fantastic way to immerse the children in sustainability, literacy, numeracy and real-life learning experiences. The children proudly welcomed customers, handled transactions and shared the beautiful products they had created and grown.
From fresh produce and homemade marmalade to handcrafted clay decorations, jewellery, lavender pouches and so much more, every item reflected the children’s creativity, hard work and care.
Thank you to everyone who visited our market and supported our young growers and artisans. Watching the children beam with pride as they shared their work with our community was truly special. 🌱✨
Today we welcomed the wonderful Katherine from House of Tierney, who facilitated a hands-on sustainable woodwork experience with our children. 🌿🪵
Using reclaimed and natural materials, the children explored creativity, developed practical skills and learnt about the importance of sustainability in a safe and engaging environment. It was inspiring to watch their confidence grow as they designed, created and problem-solved alongside Katherine to make their own pen holder.
A huge thank you to Katherine for sharing your passion and expertise with us.

What an incredible couple of months it's been at The Big Treehouse Preschool! 🌿💚
We've explored safety through the SeeMore Safety Program, laughed and learnt with JD's World of Magic, celebrated NAIDOC Week with a meaningful Smoking Ceremony, cooked with fresh produce from one of our preschool families' farm, enjoyed movement and mindfulness with Tiny Moves and welcomed the STEPS Vision Screeners.
There's even more to look forward to, including House of Tierney's sustainable woodwork incursions, Tooth Angel, Nose Blowing Education, Action Kids and our exciting six-week 2027 Buddy Program with New Lambton Public School.
We're so grateful for the amazing opportunities, partnerships and community connections that make learning at The Big Treehouse so special. 🌱✨
Today we explored our local New Lambton community with a visit to the Library and Toy Library. Each child thoughtfully borrowed a book to share with their friends, choosing stories that reflected their current interests, including the World Cup, bees, sustainability, dinosaurs and bugs.
We were also excited to explore the Toy Library, where the children mindfully selected two resources to borrow back at preschool. These experiences help foster a sense of belonging within our community while encouraging literacy, curiosity, decision-making and responsibility as the children care for shared community resources.

Overall EXCEEDING the National Quality Standard.
What an incredible achievement for our small, family-owned preschool. We couldn’t be prouder.
This week we turned fresh oranges from one of our families’ farm into delicious homemade orange marmalade! 🍊 The children then baked homemade scones and bread to enjoy their creation together.
Before cooking, the children wrote their own shopping lists and visited Ritchies to purchase the ingredients, building early literacy, numeracy and real-life skills through meaningful learning experiences.

Our fruit explorations continue! The children worked collaboratively to crack open a coconut using hammers, demonstrating teamwork, persistence and safe risk-taking. They were excited to discover what was inside and enjoyed tasting both the coconut water and the fresh coconut flesh. This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, sensory exploration and meaningful conversations as the children shared their observations and compared the taste, texture and smell of this unique fruit.
