Year 6 visited Kotara High today to experience a ‘taste’ of high school life. They enjoyed lessons in maths, drama, PE and HSIE. The amazing collection of creatures within the fish tanks were the highlight, along with some tricky maths problems. 🐟 🐠 🧮

Check-in assessment for Years 3-6

Dear parents and carers,
From next week until the end of term, students in Years 3-6 will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment. Year 6 students will also complete a writing assessment.

*Students may wish to bring headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer to enable them to hear audio during the assessment.

Congratulations to Seb and Curtis who represented Hunter in the PSSA Rugby Championship this week in Mudgee. The team finished 8th out of 13 teams in the State and had a brilliant carnival! Well done!

Our buddy bench at Merewether Heights is very rarely empty. In fact I think it might be…how many buddies can fit on the buddy bench???

Last day at camp part 1 - some high flying adventurers and tired campers. What a great 3 days! Lots of resilience, responsibility and respect on show.

More Stage 2 camp photos! Last night the students participated in a County Fair, operating stalls to buy and sell. Today, after a few more camp activities, we ventured to Dark Point on Worimi Country to visit some middens and play on the sand dunes. We continued to Jimmy’s Beach for an epic sandcastle competition and some beach footy. A BBQ dinner and games night to round off the day. We have some tired but very happy campers!

Big shout out to Matt Field.
We’re incredibly grateful to Matt, a proud Kuku Yalanji man and valued parent in our school community, for sharing his knowledge and culture as a facilitator at our Cultural Immersion Day a few weeks ago.

Matt led groups of students through meaningful conversations about the importance of connecting to Country and the power of active listening, helping students understand how we can learn, listen and build connection through our new yarning circle.

Thank you, Matt, for sharing your time, knowledge and perspective with our students and helping make the day such a meaningful experience. We are so grateful for your contribution to our school community. 💛❤️🖤
